Was using our Stark/Royal 4650 today and noticed the pistol grip where the hose pigtail plugs in was getting hot and smelling a bit toasty.
When I got it for 25 bucks the hose power connection was bad somewhere by the tank and it would drop the power head unless I set it to blower mode.
Found a good 4500 complete hose setup on eBay for a not outrageous price guaranteed to be working and put the two together when it showed up.
So today I stopped and tore the pistol grip off and the female power plug was starting to melt on one side and the male end on the hose was all carboned up and almost melted but still good enough to be cleaned up.
Luckily the whole off-on and motor speed control board is the same for both hoses and is made to be easily unplugged and replaced so swapped the 4650 one to the 4500 hose and it has stopped heating up and trying to melt and works.
Guess I may need to watch for another circuit board and other parts as I don't think Royal or whoever they are now still sells any of those parts but glad I had enough leftover stuff from both to make it work again before it caught fire or something.

Sadly in some canisters, burnt terminals for the power head in either the wand or hose connection can be common. I have never experienced it with any Hoover by I've seen it on many disconnects on Kenmores and Panasonics.

Hesco may have schematics for your machine which could be used to get part numbers and search various sites on the web that way if you need parts again!!

Sounds like you have it in good shape for now though! Good luck, they are a great canister.

Yeah it has a lot of extra connections with the motor speed and off on stuff on the pistol grip. I have downloaded the parts list and schematics but seems most of the parts are no longer made like original hoses and things.
I have a 413 too we bought when it was practically new and over the years had to replace the hose twice and the power head once and the hose had so many holes I decided to try and find a newer one with the better power head. I actually use the suction/speed control and power head off and on functions.
Wish the Panasonic powerhead had a metal sole plate like the 413.
