Hi everyone,
I just found this machine while thrifting. These are harder to come by. I know they did not make them for long, and they have their fair share of issues. One of which I know resulted in a recall of the Pure Air.
I have a hard time calling a Bissell rare, but this is definitely one of the more hard to find, and lesser known models. It is cool to see one of these working and semi complete. I'm missing a few attachments.
This one works great, it has a good Brushroll, and it seems to do a decent job at vacuuming. It is certainly heavy and loud, too!

Let me know if you want to see more. I figured I would share this machine as there is not a whole lot about this one on the net. Enjoy.

while I'm not

a Bissel fan, it is likely one of, if not their best.

I would call them rare, but I would also call them loud.

I think the first time I've seen one of these running was in a youtube video by vacmasterthegreat, and he even commented on the noise.

I've seen tons of bags for these, but never the machine itself. I have a Consumer Reports buying guide from like 1999 or 2000 that has the recall for this in it. It had something to do with the fraying of the cord, I think.

My only questions here is what type of bags and belts does it use? Also is the brushroll wood or plastic?

Rare Bissells

I think I have only seen one of these.
Bissell would have times when style and design were better than quality of materials and performance.
Also among the rare are the Trio broom type with telescopic wand and the very stylish SC(self contained) deluxe 'steam' cleaner with both ends rounded.I have examples of both if any are interested. When I have time to further sort through the upstairs they may be among the first to the DUMPSTER!

Do you mind showing a picture of the beginning of the cord? As in, where it connects into the vacuum? Because that's what the recall was about. The insulation on the cord could tear at that part of the cord, posing shock and burn risks to the user. Apparently it only applied to the models that didn't have a 3-inch strain relief on the beginning of the cord, so if yours doesn't have that, you should get it repaired. Stay safe, and happy vacuuming.
