I saw this vacuum on Craigslist and realized I had never seen a Sanyo upright before and thought to post it.

The Sanyo uprights sold in the UK came in various guises but the later bagless ones were sold in the U.S under Fantom (after Dyson), I believe.

I remember watching the infomercial for these when they came out. I might have it recorded on tape still.

I've seen one of these from my old vacuum store before. I've never used one but my buddy said that these were terrible and he would sell a bagged Performax over these. Even he said the Sharp Twin Energy bagless models does alot better than these.

I used to have one of those Sharps that Sebo_Fan mentioned under the Fantom name. It did not get very much use, I ordered it from HSN and it included a small Shark-type sweeper that got more use than the vacuum itself!

Sanyo DirtHunter

There were three models of the Dirt Hunter sold in the USA (1210, 1220, and 1230) if I remember correctly, each a different color. (Same frame, some extra feature in each model.) Seems like they were circa 2003 give or take a year.

I sold those

I sold those Dirt Hunter Sanyos in my vacuum shop. 1999 to 2002. My sister-in-law bought one and used it till 2008 and replaced it with a lower end Dyson. I was not really impressed with them, being I'm a Kirby and Lux man. They did not sell very well, but then again my shop didn't do that well either. The Sanyo bagged models that were Panasonic Jet-Flo clones were much better. I think I had two left at the time my shop closed down. I think I sold them on ebay the next year.
If it cleans well, keep it. If not, donate it to a charity thrift store if you have one near by.

I've owned a few Fantom Twisters....

I never cared for the Euro-Pro Fantoms but I did like that they were quiet. They seemed to have decent suction power too. The only one that interests me is the commercial model with the metal brushroller. I can't think of any other bagless vacuum that ever had a metal brushroller.
