Hi all! I'm trying to disassemble my Electrolux Renaissance, but I am having a bit of trouble. I've gotten the screws out of the bottom and nothing else will budge-what am I doing wrong? This is the first Electrolux tank I've disassembled.

Thanks!

Alright I've gotten it apart. I wasn't pulling hard enough lol.

Now I have a question about the bumper! How on earth can I get these horrible scuff marks out? I've tried Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and scrubbing them in Bar Keepers Friend. Any other tips?

I'm surprised

the magic eraser didn't work. Have you tried liquid dish soap, and a mild scrub pad? I'd suggest a car polish or scratch remover, but they are white, and I don't know if they'd also not stain?
You can try on a small test area.
I have used it on soft bumpers on my Eureka canister bumper gaskets with no problem.

My last resort would be

a grey flat paint. I'd rag it or sponge it on.

Thanks for the tips. The magic eraser was just ripped to shreds while the scuff marks remained, I was very surprised by this as well.

"SIMPLE GREEN" spray. I've also used Bon Ami....a MILD, MILD abrasive. It actual boasts as non-scratch, and is recommended by Corning, china, etc.

I use....

91% alcohol with a 2 sided (sponge/synthetic) pot scrubber. Moistened with the alcohol, the scuffs easily come off. Use the synthetic side for more caked on paint.

This really worked well on my recent buy, a Aerus Lux Guardian.

Let us know what worked.

Thanks for the tip, I took another member's advice and used gel hand sanitizer and it worked excellent. I actually just took a look at your thread, awesome machine.

Thanks Myles.....

I should have taken before and after pictures, but trust me, it was not pretty.

I am amazed how interested I am in vacuums and how much information there is out there online and from great sites/members like this. I have made some repairs and figured out many things these few years that I would not have thought I would. I just goes to show you, if you are truly interested in something, you can become very good at it.

Thanks again to you guys, you Rock!

Nice to know that hand sanitizer works. I don't have experience with the Renaissance / Epic 8000 / Guardian line, but I have used magic erasers on the C-style machines of old and new, and they seem to work there.

One day I need to pick up a Renaissance. I vividly remember when I was a toddler seeing a sales rep bring a new one in to demonstrate for my parents. Of course they didn't buy... they said their Diamond Jubilee was working just fine, and it still is today at 31 years old.

Hello from a fellow Va vaclander btw.

I see you're also located in Virginia, I'm right in between DC and Richmond.
