Hello fellow Vacuum Collectors, I am in need of information of how the VCCC works, the age limits, more. Please explain everything to me because I would love to go to the VCCC sometime. I am 14 going on 15 right now so I am not sure about the age limits and how to go there and setup my own vacuums there. Any info would be great.
Thanks |

Hi Kirby Collector:
The V.C.C.C. was started in January of 1983 as a resource center, and place for people interested in the history of vacuum cleaners. There was a by-monthly newsletter which in time became a quarterly. At that time the membership was free and expences were low due to the fact there were only 6 members aside from founder, co-founder, secretary, and assistant editor. At that time there was no age restriction but you had to be 18 to be on the mailing list, and I think thats still the age of membership. At that time our members were all in their 20's and 30's. As for the club, it was there to help fellow collectors share ideas, gather information on a given brand or get help with repairs, reseration and so on. In May of 1985, we held our first anual meeting in Chesterton, Indiana, and the next 7 were held in Naperville, Illinois before going to other places like Hoover in 94, and Allentown, PA. in 95. Please understand, back then there was no internet, we communicated by phone, mail, or through the newsletter. Sometime in the late 90's, or early 2000's we were launched into cybrespace and this is when the club began to grow. I can't answer questions on membership for a 14 year old, but in the early days he was a guest of the club, and the parent was the member. He was free to attend the meetings, (now conventions) as long as there was a parent, or guardian with him. Fact is the club is open to everybody who meets the requirements. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me, Alex Taber, at Ralextaber@gmail.com By the way my username refers to the cat sitting on my lap in the picture. Caligula was the club mascot, and the name means 'Little Boots' in Latin. Alex Taber. This post was last edited 07/09/2016 at 14:37 |

Thank you for your interest in The VCCC. You may join as a Junior Member. Email Morgan Frazer, his info is on our separate site. You may also speak to Ken Wagman, our Mermbership coordinator, or Chad Cunningham, the President. There should be a link here to The VCCC. It is a nominal fee, and you'll be more than welcome. Sincerely, John Long, Vice Pres, VCCC |

We just had one in Chicago. Next year, it will be in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Every year, it is held in a different location. Visits to fellow collectors' homes to see his/her collection, thrifting, lunches, vac competitions, a banquet, prizes, a raffle, etc. There's always something new, fun, and exciting. And, you'll meet a great group of people. Again, let me invite you to join our VCCC. You'll be most welcome. John |
