One of the

VERY FINEST Kirbys ever in my opinion, like the D-80 but has a much better handle and the color is much prettier....but then I hate green!!LOL

Thanks Hans, but I must confess that I do like both of them. It is a good color tan, though, but I really don't like seeing a 500 series wearing it.

I Agree!!

The rebuilds should have RED trim , not Sanitronic tan!

What does the "dual" mean in the model name?

It means the then-new dual-speed motor, the second speed being reserved for the hose.

So does my Ultimate G use the fast speed or the slow speed all the time?

Uses lower speed on floorhead, higher on hose, it has multiple speeds

The Dual Sanitronic 50 was the first Kirby to have a DUAL speed motor. Low speed for vacuuming floors and High speed when using attachments with the hose. All Kirby's since the D50 have 2 speed motors except the Diamond edition which has 4 speeds. 2 speeds in floor mode and 2 different speeds when in hose mode and selectable with a lighted toggle switch in the rear near the power switch. The Diamond was the only Kirby to have 4 speeds.
