I am such a lucky boy! I came across this the other night when I was searching through ebay, a new in box Henry from 2001! It was pretty expensive and there were only two photos shown on the listing but I took the plunge as I didn't want to miss out! I am so glad I did take a chance on it, the Henry certainly is brand new! I am so happy with it! Not every day you come across a Henry of any considerable age, new in box, despite being in their plentiful. Here she is anyway, just look how fabulous that box is, so colourful! Needless to, the different coloured sides of the box suggest the different colours you could get Henry in. I suspect it was purchased from John Lewis as it has the John Lewis type of logo, as can be seen on the white tape with green diagonal stripes, on top of the box. Alex. |

I have always wanted a 2001 model, ever since I used to help the cleaner out at school...She had 2001 Henry in green for the English corridor that she used to clean...Never in a million years did I imagine I would get a 2001 Henry new in box!! I am absolutely made up with it! :D This post was last edited 06/25/2016 at 19:45 |

The cord rewind was a bit stiff, so I needed to take it apart to apply some grease to the contacts to make the rewind turn more freely...So, while I was at it, I decided to show you some photos of what it looks like inside...Yup! Definitely never used, that's for sure! :D This post was last edited 06/25/2016 at 19:47 |

So, I smothered the contacts in grease, as they should be and the rewind is as smooth as anything now. Machine is all back together and in it's box. So I ask, should I use him, or keep him new? what are your opinions, I would like to hear. :) Thanks for reading. Alex. This post was last edited 06/25/2016 at 19:49 |

I know, it isn't, the hose pictured is off my Jack, I included it just for the photos. Unfortunately, the filter, crevice tool and hose were missing, as the box was not factory sealed, despite the missing pieces, (which is no big deal) there is no argument that the machine and other tools etc have never been used! It is very evident they're new and unused, the seller said it had been moved a few times over the year and things may have accidentally got lost from various moves...Not sure I buy that as the reason for those parts missing but anyway, who knows! I have tracked down an original type "permatex" filter, used, unfortunately, but you can't buy it anymore, after a wash through the washer, it should be whiter that white and good as new! I bought a 1.9m hose along with a short hose cuff to make it fully original again, I also bought a generic crevice tool, as the generic Numatic tools you buy now are the same as the old genuine ones, lol. I am still puzzled as to why the hose, crevice tool and filter were missing but the machine is completely new, a mystery...The only thing I can think of, is that the original owner bought two Henry's at the time and stored this one as a spare, and the parts missing from this were used on the first one as they got used more. Alex. |

Why would you use him Alex? It's not like you don't have other Henrys. An unused Henry is special. A dirty Henry, call him a dirty boy, are so common.
I see Henry without his hat is merely a butch looking James, with a tough hair cut.
Any idea, Alex, what the blank cover was for? Potential power nozzle plug?
All of our vacuums are "one in a million". Look at that as either a compliment, or just the truth about our factory, mass produced lifestyle.
Wow. Think of how many vacuums are made each year, and how many have been made since vacuums came into the lexicon of appliances. And we all own probably, at least one. Even if a person owns 50 (and I do), that's nothing in the grand scheme of things. |

Yep, it is a blanking piece, this style of Henry was used between 1999-2002 it was the first of the standard Henry's to do away with the powerhead socket, all standard Henry's before 1999 had a power head socket. Numatic redesigned the motor housing slightly in 2003 so there was no blanking piece at all and added a push button on/off instead of a side mounted rocker switch. In 2004 Numatic made Henry two speed, basically just added a hi/lo rocker switch on the left side and kept the push button on/off. Numatic completely changed the switch layout in 2006-present, with, needless to say, the current Henry style, two rocker switches at the back on top, an on/off and hi/lo and with one central exhaust (a bit like the HVC200 with the central exhaust) unlike two side exhausts that had been used since 1985. Numatic changed Henry to have an "Autosave" feature in 2009, which basically changed the hi/lo switch to a kettle design switch that would spring back when pressed, with a little light when you pressed it to tell you it was in hi, this had a slow start motor and always defaulted to low upon turn on. The "Autosave" Henry's proved pretty unreliable, so Numatic changed it back to the hi/lo switch again. Simpler. Back to the this Henry...The motor housing on this 2001 Henry was first used on Henry's in 1991 and remained unchanged right up until 2002, of course, before 1991, there were two other types of motor housings used, the original non rewind HVC200 type, 1981-1985 and the first rewind models HVR200, 1985-1990.
