Thanks for keeping those of us that can't be there informed. We can live through your camera.
Now remember if you catch John L. in any compromising positions (you know using a Kirby) Please post immediately. |

Here are some pictures I took. We just finished the cleaning competition. Every vacuum I brought was used except my Rainbow D3. My D4 was used against my Hyla.

--That Riccar Radiance cleaning the carpet ever for the first time ever with that Airway nozzle---- hmmmm!!
That Riccar is a fantastic cleaner as is!!! Terrific deep cleaner. Attach that hose back to its normal receptacle, recline the handle, turn the brush roll and engulf yourself on a thorough deep cleaning venture to remove dirt no vacuum before has ever been able to do-- even where that Eureka nozzle was!! |

Everything was done in good fun in Missouri as well!!
The one Hoover was quite unusual, I had never seen it before but apparently at some point Hoover subcontracted to Tacony for a SupraLite style upright. It was kinda neat. Tom came over with the camera and I grabbed a "regular" Hoover too!! All in good fun!! Afterall they're just vacuums!! There are more important things in life such as never ending bills that arrive every month!!! LOL |

The VCCC convention was wonderful! Thank you Jon Durfor and Jeff Parker for opening your homes to us! Thank you Jocab Siebel for providing the projector and Kirby Classic demo films, they were hysterical! Next year Phillip Muller and myself will be co-hosting the convention in Tulsa and Independence Kansas. Thanks again to everyone for all their hard work!

Wasn't able to sell everything I brought with me. I'll bring some again. I'll also donate a few things to my church's flea market in August.
We roared at that 1960's--60's film. SOOO funny. WE ALL had a great time. It was SO wonderful to see Marty Rocha, Jeff Parker again as well as my very close friend, Tom Anderson, who was visiting at Jeff's I'll see him again before the summer is over. But, it was great to all be back together, if only for a short time. Jeff came up behind me and wrapped foreign hoses around my neck. HE knows a good laugh and is a kind, fun-loving man. Tom A. and I did the glove thing, too. I was supposed to be Bill Edstrom's 'assistant' in a Kirby clinic. Next time, Bill. THAT was all done in good fun., I can always tell the difference, luckily. It was also nice spending some quality time with Bill Kirby...gee, it was like Kirby overload, a man named Kirby, a Kirby film fest, clinic, etc....Scott is looking great, with the college semesters behind him. Tyler, ever so polite, he has matured so well. Jon's home was great. His mom is most gracious. The contests were fun, as always. Michael Turner was awarded the "Ruth Hollander Award"... congrats to you, Michael, you stepped up to the plate so faithfully for our club, more than once. .....so relieved you're "cancer Free". And, Miss Tania, "The First Lady of Vacuums". Honestly, if you can't get along with Tania, the fault lies with you. More info, photos soon. John |

Glad everyone had a fantastic time and got home safe!!!
John always takes the "razzing" well when others, myself included, try to dupe him into trying other brands!! John Long, you know I've tried to get to feel the suction of my Eureka canisters that have made appearances at your home. --- Of course I did try to give you notice of whenever a foreign species would be traveling with me, but also I had Hoovers with me too every time as well and usually at least two Hoovers and not just one! I think one time with gloves, John I got you to push a Eureka power nozzle or atleast touch the hose. But seconds later we gave you a Hoover power nozzle canister and a Hoover 1070 with which you could "Re-Hoover" and feel relieved again, LOL LOL!! Yes the gloves come out, the Holy Water comes out, the priest collar comes out. I've also seen hammers and saws come out. At the last Monster Bash, there were a few foreigners sitting on trash bags so they wouldn't burn a hole through the floor with yellow Caution tape wrapped around them!! It adds to the fun!! |

Yes Shaylee loved meeting everyone and has told me I can no longer go to conventions without her lol On our way home she got on ebay and did some shopping and bought herself a few vintage vacs that she thinks we needed...... Thanks guys, thanks a lot! As if We didn't already have enough dadgum vacuums sitting around, now she understands more about collecting and loves it. The cool thing about that is her interests in vacuums is different than mine so it will keep the collection interesting.

It was a long trip for me too! 11 hrs. I made it all in one day! After I said good bye to everyone in Chicago at breakfast I drove back with Chad. Chad, Sean and I got into Kansas City about 7pm. I loaded up my truck and headed back to Tulsa and got home around 11:30 p.m. It was a long haul but well worth it! I'm so excited for next year I can't wait! Barb is already working on getting a hotel!

My trip wasn't as long as yours John. I was coming down with a cold so I'm sure that made a difference. I was happy to be in my own bed Sunday night. I love the conventions because we all stay up pretty and talk! It's part of the fun and the experience! I am sure every one was a little tired afterward.

I think I was asleep before my head hit the pillow. I had to get the car to the rental at 8 Mon..... then be at the college at 9 to give finals. YIKES!! Then, the new kitty arrived last night. I'm still tired.
Next year will be great, I've no doubts. This one certainly was streamlined, improved, modernized, etc. It's only going to improve with more of the same. Great seeing you, Kenny. All of YOUR hard work does NOT go un- noticed. John |

I had such a fun time. It was really nice to see everyone again and explore what new machines that everyone acquired. I just want to give a big thank you to John Long for letting me be his car buddy the trip was long going and coming but we had a great time entertaining ourselves in the car with great music. I cannot wait for next year to see the group. Both collector's that we visited were super gracious and fun to meet. I am so happy I finally got to meet Jeff Parker and see his amazing Hoover Collection and also talk to Tom Anderson he is a great guy.

Was there a group pic taken this year at the VCCC convention? That would be nice to see. Actually any more pics would be nice to see. I had to miss this year's convention sadly, so pics are the next best thing to being there! |

You're right Andy, his name is Mike. He is a member of Vacuum Land, but not a member of VCCC. He lives in St. Louis, and came to the Vacuum Museum for the Collector's Convention this year. He's using a Lakewood green Kenmore KenKart attached to the Riccar cordless power nozzle, in the 1950's room of the Vacuum Cleaner Museum.

Somebody told me you are located on Ogden Ave. across from what was once was Grandma Sally's restaurant. The V.C.C.C. headquarters was right around the corner on Sherman Ave. The exact address was 5 south 437. At that time mine was the only two story house on that street. I lived there from August 85-May 95.
There was a Dunkin donuts on my corner, and our members stayed at the Stardust motel, there was also a Bakers Square there too. Alex Taber. |

You did, and I told you this was exactly where my house was.
I turn my home into a headquarters for the club and open a museum in my otherwise unused garage. So what happens? no vacuum cleaner shops for miles, then I move to California and a vac shop opens in my former back yard. Looks like I need to do a road trip to Naperville to meet this guy. When I do, want to join me? Alex Taber. |
