The Maytag dealer used to be up the highway from here until it turned into the Police Athletic League Thrift Shop. The Maytag logo carpet is still on the floor. They seldom have anything of interest over the past four years, but they did have my Dial-A-Matic and a BOL Hoover rug and floor washer. Last week, this grey hose was peeking out of a box, and this is what I found. The crevice tool and a wand are missing, there is a mysterious little pinhole on the upper body, and some marks where it lay on something for a few years. I have wanted another one of these almost as fast as I got rid of the other one I had years ago. I believe it just missed its strap, but it even had the caddy. This one here has the papers with it.

And here's the Hoover 8700

It's not a vacuum, but it does have something to do with a floor. Has anyone ever seen one of these crazy things?

Alan, I think the orange Hoover is a shoe polisher/buffer thingy? What's the blue/white thingy next to it?

Rick

Rick, the turquoise tank holds liquid, there is a spinning brush on the bottom, with no visible way of removing it. It runs, a little noisily.

I see, said the blind man! I guess we'll have to wait for one of the Hoover experts to comment on this one!

I'll bet Tom Anderson would know. I looked for the big picture that was posted once for the 1967 product lineup and couldn't find the pic. I'll keep looking in the meantime.

Scroll down to the big color picture, it's on the very bottom left. I still don't know what it is. (freely stolen archive courtesy of Fred Nelson aka compactelectra, and Mike Rogers)

So what is this little Hoover, a Spotscrubber forerunner?

I was thinking it might be for carpet stains etc?

I think that's probably it Pete. Maybe for car carpeting too. I hope one of the Hoover guys adds something anyhow.

I think that is the Hoover upholstery shampooer, but the Hoover experts would know for sure. Congrats on the finds
Alan!

Thanks Andy! That would explain the soft brush.

Finds

I'm just up the road from you in Vero and follow your finds. Where would you suggest in this area to look? Would love to have one of those Hoover vacs myself! Had one for years and miss it.
Roger

Hi Roger, welcome! First, there are the VNA Thrift Shop and Goodwill in the Miracle Mile Plaza, I don't know the actual street name, and on Route 60 there is the Humane Society Thrift Store next to Big Lots on 43rd Ave.and 60. Then on 14th Street, there is a Hospital thrift store in a pink building, and down the street is St. Vincent De Paul which is fairly easy to find, on the same side. Then on 12th St. someplace is Heaven Sent, in a small plaza. Check your phone book also, there may be places I missed. Hope you have good luck!

Thanks for the info. I've been to the VNA and Goodwill but didn't know about the Hospital thrift or Heaven Sent. Will have to try them. I'm going to Big Lots today so will stop at the Humane Society store. Wish me luck!
Roger

Good luck Roger, let us know what you dig up! I found this there one day. Like I say, check out the phone book and the Yellow Pages, I'm going to in a bit. This was $8.56 in the Humane Society:
