"I have a Craftsman Wet & Dry Vacuum Model 17845 and have no idea what it is... obviously a vacuum" ?
Let's see, an appliance with a cord, a hose, a switch, a label that states it's a "vacuum"..... yet, what can it be? hmmmmm.
The mind wobbles. This post was last edited 05/16/2016 at 18:02 |

Generally Wet/ Dry vacuums don't sell for very much new. They are a moderately powerful motor ontop of a deep basin where the debris or liquid settles. By the size, I would guess that yours is around a 12- 16 gallon capacity?.
One thing with the old ones, the tanks were made of metal, so you would want to inspect for rust and any dents. Those would be the major concerns for how to value or price it, in addition to if the motor works well. As it has a blower feature- you would attach the hose to the exhaust port-- whichever of those top ports is blowing out exhaust. For vacuum, you would attach the hose to the other port. As far as what to do with it: 1) Does it seem to work ok when you plug it in and run it? 2) Do you or anybody you know need a wet/dry vacuum? Some use them in the garage or work shop and others own one in case of a flood. 3) Or sell/ donate It's old so it has some value for that assuming it's in good shape and runs with no dents or rust. A current market brand new Craftsman 16 gallon with plastic tank runs for $100 Need to evaluate what sort of condition the filter attached to the under side of the motor looks like, what attachments you have for it: 2 extension wands?, 9" or approximate long size floor head? Squeegue head for hard flooring wet pickup, large opening upholstery nozzle, dusting brush?, etc?? There isn't really a set price, it's whatever someone is willing to pay. YOu could list it at $160 and maybe by some oddball chance have a buyer or list it at $50 for a quicker sell. You can always go down in price if it doesn't sell obviously but you won't be able to go up in price! Best of luck!! Let us know if you need more help. |
