So these are the 'next generation' Oreck uprights I guess - the Elevate Series:

www.oreck.com/elevate.html...

They don't look to bad, but reading the chart makes it seem as though if you want to use the HEPA bags you must buy the top line series. The base model starts at $299.99 and the top line model is $599.99. The Oreck XL Classic and Oreck Heritage uprights are $249

The picture is of the base model unit - Elevate Control

The styling of the hood.

Reminds me of these Kenmores. I see that this new line are made in the US with US and global components...so that's nice. I could be wrong but they all appear to have the wider style filltube like the 21 so i'm sure they are decent performers.

Oreck XL Classic, Oreck Heritage, what's next? An Oreck Legend?

Oreck Legend

I think that they have already made an Oreck XL Legend.

Yep those Kenmores are Panasonic bagged uprights -the MC-UG614. They sold in limited stock here in the UK. There were two models - rather nice but the PN's were a bit bulky and the upright didn't sell much because of no hose on board. TOL models got a bag full of tools and stretch hose and a rather handy pull out/clip on stabiliser to stop the upright falling over.

Legend and Kenmore...

I think the Oreck Legend was a model offered by QVC if remember correctly. It was a good model, similar to XL21s/Platinums without the long warranties and priced quite a bit less.

I have one of the above Kenmores, gifted to me by Dan Pontow, fellow Vacuumlander. I saw it when we were shopping at a Sears in Des Moines when I was there on a visit, and was quite impressed with it. I remember saying it was like an Oreck on steroids. The next time he came to St. Louis, he brought me one. I actually love it, the power nozzle does a great job, plenty of suction. The absence of tools on board doesn't matter to me, for when I need tools, I grab one of my canisters. The only downside to it is the size of the bag for me, tends to fill quickly due to my shedding dog, but other than that, is a very maneuverable, thorough cleaning machine.

Looks like a solid refresh for Oreck . I'm not about the new helping hand handle shape without holding it but overall the look very nice. Also really surprised and happy to see that they are all built in the US. When I first saw them I thought for sure they would be foreign made like the Magnesium line.

I wonder what the internal differences are in terms of the base platform between models and if they are all based on the 21/Gold or is the entry one based on the standard XL.

Has anybody on Vacuumland ordered one of the Elevates?

Has anybody on here ordered one of the new Elevate Uprights? I think that the Conquer looks really nice. They look to be very refined XL21's.

The control model shares the same guts as any Oreck Classic type machine. The command shares the same guts as an Oreck XL21. The Conquer is the same as the older Pilot series. There is also still going to be a traditional looking classic Oreck similar to the current U2200. These new Elevate units will also have different looking bags. If anyone would like some real photos just let me know and I can take some at work.

I figured that was probably the case since the Control lacks the EnduroLife belt and weighs a pound less. Interesting that the Command costs less than the forever Gold though. They seem to have slotted the new machines between the prices of the old ones, the Control between the Classic and Graphite, and the Command between the Gold and Graphite.

I'm guessing some of the older models will be phased out soon though, but glad to hear a model of the XL Classic/U2200 will be sticking around. I'd love to see that model gain a headlight if they revise it.

Oreck survival...

Since the TTI buyout of Oreck, they have done next to nothing to promote the brand, sad. The St. Louis area is down two stores from seven, all thriving stores at the time when Oreck had more of a public presence. The only way some are surviving are the ones allowed to carry Miele products which I guess were grandfathered in since they were already dealers. I also heard one or two of the stores will be going multi-brand stores in hopes they will keep going. I wish the Oreck only stores the best in trying to keep their doors open, a tough job at best. Oreck stores have been forced to become Hoover warranty repair centers, which has been a nightmare. So many of their products break before they're out of warranty and TTI does not have the parts, so they just send new vacuums. Really, how can that be good business? Oh well, time will tell.

These Oreck vacuums are still WAY OVERPRICED.For that price you could get a new Royal metal upright-or a nice condition used Kirby-the Royal and Kirby would be better than the Oreck.Oreck is still an overpriced broom vacuum!

It may well be over priced but in Europe it may sell well based on the fact that its lower powered and meets EU regulation.

Checked them out...

I had to get some product from my old Oreck store and had a chance to try out the new models. Really just cosmetic from I could tell, right down to the narrow air flow tube on the Control and the wimpy brushroll(IMHO). One thing I did notice was on the two-speeds, when you click up and down, the motor slowly changes instead of abrupt. I do like the new bases/LED lights on all of them, but I wish they'd give up on those side brushes, they almost point straight out from the machine. I noticed before I left a couple of years ago how the classic brushrolls were getting softer and not lasting as long. Kinda made me think maybe Oreck went to CWP and asked, how can we get these cheaper? Luckily for the ones I have, were bought years ago, and never used that frequently. I do use my XL21 often with the stiffer brushroll, it really grooms well. The new pricing on the upper models I think reflect they have ceased with the "Forever" warranty, so lowering the prices maybe? Yes, they are pricey, however, Oreck has always had a niche in the buyer's market because of the weight, not wanting a Kirby/Royal, etc. We always had leave behind/trade-ins of Kirbys, and heavier machines with tools on board. A lot of people do not care about lack of tools on board, not using them every time they clean. Hopefully TTI will some how, some way promote the brand again. My old store is selling out the Forever Golds for $349.00, warranty intact..that's a good price!

Looks like just a color change with new name to me!

They had a teal colored base and red colored base not long ago that looked like exact motor heads to this Elevate series. The wheels look like XL21 style and I've seen their swivel before. The bag and handle system and the dirt tube looks the same as their other stuff!

Oreck really needs to work on how their bags seal and attach to the dirt tube. Both the cloth bag and cardboard collar for the paper bag seal terribly!

At $450, and $600 price tags one is so much better off getting a Riccar, Simplicity, Miele, Cirrus or even Panasonic upright!! Filtration, power, durability, cleaning performance and options will be tremendously better and your medium and plush style carpets will Thank You!!!

I find that the bag dock works quite well, the inside of the outer cloth bag on my Oreck Graphite is still spotless. I've also never had a problem with the fill tube on classic style XLs clogging that other seem to complain about, but that could be environmental, we don't wear shoes inside or have a shedding pet. Besides, the two higher end Elevate models are based on the 21/gold which has the wider tube and base. In terms of the brush roll, in personal experience while they are soft the fact that the bristles are short and the groupings really bushy makes them groom much better than vacuums I've used with longer, stiffer but thinner bristles.

Overall I think they did a nice update to keep the vacuum contemporary looking while adding some nice changes like the better LED headlights.

Oreck Elevate Collection

I may be going to an Oreck Store this weekend if I can get a chance, I hope to try the new Elevate Uprights! If I get a chance I will report back on here and let everyone know what I think of them :)

My only issue with the bag dock

was the latch mechanism. The plastic hook for the latch tends to lose its ability to stay tightly snapped. I like the way Riccar/Simplicity overcame this issue with their lightweight direct air uprights. They attached the plastic latch mechanism to the bag collar, therefore there's nothing to wear out because every time you use a new bag, you get a new latch mechanism.

The XL-21 platform was great for it's time and I'm sure the Elevate platform performs about the same, but we're talking about a basic design template that's at least 15 years old. I want to like Orecks, I really do. I just wish they wouldn't rest on their laurels so much.

There's no laurels to rest on. It's a totally new company with TTI at the helm. It breaks my heart because whether you loved them or hated them they were up until recently still an American-made product. I just hope parts will still be readily available for the older series (like say an XL-100C).

Most of these units are still American made. The Magnesium series are made in China as well as their air purifiers, the Surface Scrub and Revitalize carpet washer. The Orbiter is still made here as well. Most are parts are made in China and on the machines that are made in Cooke ville they will say "Made in the USA with globally sourced components". Just the same as Tacony. TTI is finally stepping up their game and starting to finally churn out some good products.

Paid a visit to Oreck of Orem..

And tried out the new Elevate Uprights! They all seem really nice, and are fresh and modern looking. They Conquer seems to clean just like my XL21, since it is really the XL21 style internals with a new hood and bag. The new LED lights are really slick looking. And, the new remote switch is nice, too. One thing I noticed while I was in there was how nice the couple that runs and owns the store is! I have been to many nice vacuum stores with many nice people, but this was exceptional! Great customer service, for sure.

I hate that Kenmore vac even though I use it for vacing the barn floors.  It was a dumpster find used really hard.  The Regina ElectrikBroom PowerTeam I used to have was better.  I also use a Electrolux Automatic E (above-floor only) in the barn

The barn has a dirt floor on ground level & fully carpeted on the upper 2 levels
