well I am already for this year's big Vac Convention sadly I cannot bring any of my collection to show off since I am flying but have everything booked and paid for. I look forward to this every year and seeing all the nice fellow collectors that attend. I have learned so much attending these conventions. I am getting so excited what I will buy and find this year!! ! I hope some year it will be in a town I can drive to but every new convention is a adventure. Vac Convention 2016 here I come YAY!!!

Also Shaylee, managed to get time off so she will be my guest. Oh Lord she has no idea what's she's getting herself into. I'm very excited for her to meet all the people I talk about all the time (favorably of course). I really think this year will be amazing. I have such a good feeling about it. I mean it's Chicago! That alone is exciting plus getting to see some old friends non of us have seen in a long time up there. Yup I'm getting butterflies!

Thanks Kenny! I'm really looking forward to it. I have to say since 2006 I've attended all but a couple of conventions, and have had a really good time at each one. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones! | ||

George Bourhill
One of the first fellow-collectors I met (via phone and mail only) -- in 1991, via Stan Kann. A funeral director and church organist, he was a "closet" vacuum cleaner collector. His family had no idea of his passion until after his death when they began to go through his (apparently rather cluttered house) and found a basement full of old (mostly 1920s) vacuum cleaners. John, Brother Chris was Chris Lambert. He passed away last year but I don't have the dates. The church sent me as well as many vccc members a letter letting us know he had passed. He was a very sweet man who did so much for his community. He was one of the busiest people I knew, very active in the church.

I've been chatting with Chad, Bill Edstrom, etc....it looks like it's going to be a great event. There are a few 'clinics' I believe, a nice trip to a very large store, events, sales, raffles, contests, yes, a banquet which everyone loves to attend.
I'm bringing things to sell, trade, as well as personally contributing numerous items (some NEW in box), to the raffle. We're getting things very organized, to ensure a smooth event. I hope to see a lot of you there. John | ||

Almost already packed to
I truly cannot wait to go this year last 4 weeks have been sure hell for me and I hope by the time this convention is I will be 100% better regardless I am going no matter how I feel. I have been suffering from Vertigo for 4 weeks now having problems standing, and walking. I have been to my physician and have a couple more tests to determine my cause of vertigo. Besides my little health drama the only thing that is making me happy is going to the convention this year and spending time with my good friend John and other friends of the Convention group.

Sam is coming to my house from Florida.
We're driving to Chicago. God help us!! It's about a 13 hour drive. Hopefully, neither of us will be riding in the trunk or as a hood ornament. We've always gotten along so well. It'll be memorable, I'm sure . I'm polishing up some items and filling the front living room with things to take. "Happy Dance"

I'm bringing vacs
Some are HOOVER, some are not. Some are for sale, trade, etc...
I'm also contributing a lot to the raffle. We're making this convention easy, simple, streamlined, and FUN. It'll be organized, etc. There are a few surprises................... It will be wonderful to see everyone again as well as some new people. John | ||

I'm having "Vacuum" towels made for the conventi
I gave them to the monogram er yesterday. He's not surprised anymore. He plugs them into the machine and keeps them for me.
You'll be surprised to know I'm making Hoover, of course, Kirby, G.E. and Electrolux towels. I thought I'd make a nice array "across the board". I still have to get him the lux and Kirby logo.... He's started on the Hoover and GE. It'll be fun, I'm sure. John | ||

The front livingroom is starting to fill w/ convention and raffle items. I have a Hoover 65 "gold" for Phillip, a NIB Hoover steam mop, a Brushvac, perhaps a Windtunnel, a Premier" hand vac, NIB Sanitaire "toolbox" shopvac, Oreck portable, Hoover spot Steamer, 4 assorted vacuum cleaner towels, a Hoover max floor scrubber/polisher, a Bissel "carpet sweeper", a Dirt Devil handvac, Dirtdevil handvac attachments, to name a few. YIKES !!!!!!!! | ||

Actually, there are people who
co-mingle. Some are members of both organizations, some browse between them as well.
Some get along very well. I'm sure we're all grateful for them. Loyalty to a group, family, manufacturer, etc is so important. I'm sure over the years, we've all met fiercely loyal friends. Others turned out to be, well, maybe not so much. | ||

We've all been the topic of conversation, both good and bad. Most of us have a sense of humor, demonstrated by the things we do and say. Some criticize us, too. I can laugh at myself and others, but NOT at their expense. It's really not nice to make fun of someone, especially when one doesn't really know the other. At my mini meets, we all laugh, at everyone and everything. But, it's never vicious, hurtful, hateful, or even covert., Some people have been to my home numerous times, and will always be welcome there. Some have been there, but will never return , as the Late Joan Crawford said in her will after excluding Christopher and Christina from her will "for reasons which are well known to them'. I just spoke with Chad and Sean last night. Talk about laughing.....the laughter will never stop. I can honestly say that, if you cannot get along with Sean Curry,then the fault lies with you. He 's an absolute riot. We get along so well, as Do I with so many others. The others...................well...............it's ok. Dionne Warwick put it best, "Walk On By". | ||

~ Personally, I find it saddening that there are vacuum cleaner collectors (a miniscule subset of humanity by any standard) who "don't get along well with others." Is it really necessary for such a tiny group of like-minded individuals to become splintered into opposing groups? We're talking about VACUUM CLEANERS, for crying out loud....... Can't believe it........ 24 hours from now I'll be in Chicago. I've waited, it seems, forever for this time to come. My health is better. I've lost almost 20 pounds. And, best of all, I'm going to be ALONE!
Can't wait to see old friends who have been so supportive, new friends I haven't yet met. Flying into Midway at 2:30 Chicago time and then on to the hotel. I'm ready to be of help wherever/whenever needed.
