I'm working on a sanitronic 7, and I want to convert it from using the disposable bags, back to origional. I'm having a total brain fart and cannot think of what a certain part is called! What is the part called that has the little door on the bottom that you open up to shake the dirt out of?? Lol for for the stupid question but I'm having one of those days.

It's called the Emptor or Sani-Emptor

You shouldn't have any trouble locating that part. I always hate seeing when people have changed older Kirbys to use paper bags, it cuts down on the air flow in addition to not looking right.

The Emptor-Sani-Emptor door. The gasket on these sometimes leaks. At one time any well stocked Kirby place had the gaskets-or a good vacuum shop should have them. They are not hard to replace.

Oh now I get it-you would need a complete bag and emptor assembly for your machine.Try an established older vacuum place. They may have such a thing in their parts stock.

When I had my vacuum repair shop, we converted many hundreds of old Kirby cleaners over to use paper bags. A normal person doesn't want the filth associated with emptying a cloth bag. I remember throwing all those sani-emptors in the trash can, never thinking any body would ever want them. The paper bag kit made the cleaner lighter in weight, it no longer tipped to the right, and it was CLEAN to empty.

I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want the hassle of a shake-out bag. If you're making the machine into a totally "correct" display piece, that's one thing, but if you're actually going to use it, better not to go there, IMO.

I actually enjoy my shake out bags for light cleaning/grooming of the carpets. Given my allergies, I usually use one of my favorite disposable bag units (Tradition, Heritage II, or Diamond) for the heavy cleaning. But if I just want to groom an already deep-cleaned carpet, I'll use one of the 500 series with their permanent bag. I'll usually vacuum out the inside of the Sani-Emptor with a hose on one of the disposable bag units once a week or so. It's ideal for me, as I love using the unit as it was used in history.

I really just want to turn this one into more of a display peice than anything. It looks better with the actual emptor peice and a more origional bag.

The dump bag vacuums-like modern dump bin bagless machines-if you empty the bag or bin after each use they aren't so bad.I used a dump bag Kirby as a child and actually liked it-and it was fun to me to dump the bag to see what you or others picked up-dumped the bag in one of the plant beds. The plants liked the dirt and dust too!
