My grandparents have a DC50 that is less than a year old. It has had very little use as they are both elderly and struggle with vacuuming - so I tend to go and do it for them and take my own machine.

However today I got theirs out to see if the filters need their first wash yet (they didn't) and I couldn't help but notice the brush was starting to go bald in places....

I also noticed that when I bought my V6 total clean back in November that all the display V6 machines had done the same thing as they use a similar design brush....

So I guess its only a matter of time before my V6 does the same thing too.....

Seems to be a common issue with these dual brush bars with the nylon and carbon fibre bristles. The carbon fibre ones (black in colour) ware down quick although I have seen the nylon ones (red in colour) ware down too!

I'm sure they will replace the part for you especially as you say it's not had much use! They shouldn't ware down like that, I don't think they have improved them either.

I'll let it get a bit worse and then get on to Dyson regarding a replacement.

As Ive said already this is my grandparents machine and they have 95% wall to wall carpet and the black carbon brushes being a bit tatty isn't going to affect carpet performance so there is no great rush at the moment.

I'll be on to them the instant I notice my V6 doing this as I mainly use it on the kitchen floor tiles
