Hey, tell me if a Shop-Vac wand (the 1 1/4" kind) could fit into a Turbocat nozzle. If it does, how effective would a Shop-Vac canister with a Turbocat head be at cleaning carpets?

The HP Vacuflo Turbocat would fit any 1.25" wand, including plastic wands like ShopVac would use. Unfortunatly the performance of a turbo nozzle requires both suction and airflow. While shopvacs often have great airflow they have poor suction in most models with thru-flow motors. It will likely spin great until the nozzle hit the carpet, then it would stop. It is also highly recommended to use button-locking wands with the turbocat to prevent friction fit wands from coming apart during use of the heavier turbocat nozzle on a high friction surface, like carpet. So you think that a Kenmore or a vintage Electrolux canister with a power brush is better than a Shop-Vac with the Turbocat head?

I've never used a turbo brush that wasn't a total joke. A power brush, such as an Electrolux Sidekick, will beat a turbo brush every time.

It would be really effective i have successfully adapted a Kenmore power head to a Shop -Vac talk about a n awesome carpet cleaner so yes it would be great .

 Most shop vacs will spin a turbo brush, but not very fast. Unfortunately, no shop vac that I know of has an electric hose. However, if you want to vacuum lots of carpet with a shop vac, there is a way. Get a universal power nozzle such as the Sebo et1 or et2, Lindhaus pb12 or pb14, Wessel Werk ebk340 or the Riccar universal power nozzle. These have pig tail cords on them with a mini plug at the end. There is a 35 foot cord you can get that plugs in to a regular outlet and has a mini plug on the other end. Connect that to your power nozzle, insert the wand of the shop vac hose and that combination should clean very well.

Hey, N0oxy, I'm pretty curious about making a motorized nozzle compatible with a straight-suction canister if we don't have a central vacuum system. I hope someone could post a picture (either in this or another thread) about a Shop-Vac or any other straight-suction canisters with one of the power nozzles from Sebo, Lindhaus, Wessel Werk or another company.

 Yes, this is possible using the same method that I mentioned in the previous message. I will include a link to the power cord that you need for this to work. The only disadvantage to this is that you end up using two outlets instead of one. The description only mentions central vacuums but it would work with any vacuum. I use this with my girl friend's electrolux ultra one straight suction canister to clean her area rugs, especially the one by her cat's litter box. The turbo brush always ends up getting litter stuck in it, but an electric power nozzle has no problems at all. Using this method to add a power nozzle to a straight suction vacuum is much better than getting a turbo brush. With a turbo brush, all of the air needs to be directed through the turbine to spin it, so the air passage is very small which is why they clog so easily. Also, the speed of a turbo brush is determined by the power of the vacuum you are using. An electric power nozzle is not bound by any of these restrictions. If you decide to get a Sebo power nozzle, be sure to also get the central vacuum adapter, it will convert the power nozzle from a direct connection to using a pigtail cord.

Hey, tell me if the adapter for Sebo power nozzles (like the one in the page I'm linking to) would fit into a wand that only accepts 1 1/4" attachments.

sebo adapter

 Yes, to the person asking about the Sebo adapter, that is what you need. The neck of the Sebo power nozzles are slightly larger than a standard size. This adapter converts it to a 1.25 inch diameter, and also provides a pigtail cord that will connect to an electric hose or the power cord I mentioned in the previous post.
