I have been working for 3 weeks , With the help of Donald, and a few friends moving a massive collection of old appliances that I acquired, I gave my word that I wouldn't tell where or from whom they came, and I intend to keep that promise, Today I drove a 15 foot Uhaul about 8 hours ,got home and unloaded it..Here are a few pictures....I will never have to hunt a old vacuum again!!LOL, Some very rare vacs, such as a model 5, 11 and 12 Electrolux..etc

There is an old expression: "25 goes into 50 a hell of a lot more than 50 goes into 25".

Wait you get to the 60's! If one more person tells me that the 60's are the new 40's I'm going to vomit.

BTW, I really like your vacuum pics here and on your new thread. Keep them coming!

Re being 50

I am thankful everyday to be 50....So many didn't make it and other than being over weight and having high blood pressure, I think im doing ok...I have a job, a home, a wonderful partner that puts up with and even helps me with my collecting, and a small group of good friends , and I see so many my age addicted to drugs, alcohol and cigarettes and so many others broke and alone...yes im very thankful!

Boy, what wouldn't I give to be 50 again. Major back problems now!

When you were born in 1965, I was 13 years old and happily vacuuming our 4 bedroom home with my mom's brand new Kirby Dual Sanitronic 50.

I looked around for my original owner's manual, but can't seem to find it. They never tell you about all the tings that happen when you turn 50 (which I did almost four years ago). No one ever said "Never pass a restroom - you'll need it very soon". Or how hard it is to get out of bed in the morning (You have to stand there for a second after you get up, before you walk). Those kinds of things.

Moving and packing a truck is not fun for any age!! I am 33 and moving in general is a process that takes a lot of time and energy. The human body can only do so much at one time.

While one suction unit may weigh around 15 pounds +/- for some that may not seem like much. But when you have to move 100 of those 15 pound units one would be ready for a nap!!! While this is just a quick example, I know you made NUMEROUS trips, packing as much as you can into your arms at one time. From boxes, to machines, to hoses, parts, miscellaneous.

My last moving trips my friends and I were taking breaks after few moments to catch our breath again and get a refresher beverage.

But congratulations on the process moving along and glad you are happy with the success! I know at 33 my body doesn't function like it did when I was 18 so I can only imagine what will happen in another 17 years when I'm 50.

DysonMan1, I loved your comment! I never received a user manual either!!! LOL. You created an excellent analogy.

Looks like you hit the jackpot, or should i say "vacpot!" Looks like a lot of nice vintage machines there. I know what you all mean about turning 50. Been there myself, and in 3 1/2 months I'll be turning 60!
Hans, I can also relate to being a "last chance" baby. My parents had been married 20 years. Mom was 40 and Dad was 41 when I entered the world on July 12, 1956. Family legend has it that Geritol was somewhat responsible for my existence. My folks had bought their first home about a year before I was born. They both worked at the time, and would start working on the house (cleaning, painting, landscaping, etc.) when they got home from work every day. They weren't eating right, and decided they needed a supplement, so they both started taking Geritol, and next thing you know, Mom was pregnant! It was kind of ironic too--although Mom was the oldest of her family, she was the last to have a child!
Jeff
