Now, I firstly apologise if there is some debate about what category this should go in.

Right. So hopefully one day i will be getting my hands on a relatives vacuum. Now, I've been asking myself this question for a while. Shall I give it the usual strip or not? I will of course give it the usual motor strip.

So, with me being in limbo, what would you do?

Thank you in advance.

And no, I am not looking for an argument.

That's an interesting Twin Turbo you have there, Emma. It's a z1017 and was a co-op exclusive sold alongside the core range z1055 and z1065 in the late 80's. I believe from 89-1990. Unlike the 1055 and 1065, this was very basic - single speed with no bag full indicator or height adjustment. Possibly one of the most basic Twin Turbo's there ever was. But that's not a bad thing, basic works in their favour.

I would give it the full works. At the bare minimum, with all those years of use, it will need new filters, bag, belt and brush strips if you can find them. The brushes will be very worn by now, but Twin Turbo's with a new set of brush strips really clean fantastically.

For comparison, here is the z1055 and z1065. Both are branded "Turbo2" and have the height adjuster on the side and bag full indicator. The z1065 also has variable power.

If you're going to give it a motor strip, why wouldn't you give it a complete overhaul and clean out?

I've just spotted that it also has a box of tools stood behind it. Hang onto those, they're getting very rare.

@Sebo-fan, Because it was (well still is) a very close relative, that's all.

Thank you Chris for the info.

There is no definite answer if ill be getting it though it is most likely.

I thought that it was the tool kit, thanks for the confirmation. If I'm even luckier i think she'll have the manual and recite.

Emma,

We knew what you meant.

I think you are on the right track giving it the works, unless you are aware of it having little use, in which case it may not need a complete motor overhaul, just a spruce up.

I think I will give it a full strip to be honest. It might as well.

Thank you everyone for the answers 😊

If I'm lucky enough she might let me have it this Friday, no promises though.
