I found this at a Goodwill in Frankfort, KY while on my way back from St. Louis this week. Can anyone tell me when this model was made and also what types of bags/belt it takes? It is in nice shape but I still need to clean it up a bit.

My guess is Late 80s. If you tell me the first three digits of the model number I can tell you who made it.

Singer, or e.r. Ryobi made that...

 That was a popular machine thru Sears, that "Twin-Fan" Commercial. It was nothing more than a standard twinfan machine, with two speeds, a grounded powercord, and a larger cloth bag w/ paperbag insert, rather than vinyl. This machine was made probably until 1992-93 or so And my 1977 Spring and Summer Catalog featured it, so it was in production for a VERY long time..

Again, it was the same as the other twin fan household units. This would have had the double brush, double beater bar agitator, and an 8 position height adjustment. My grandmother bought a new on in 1988, and she still has it and uses it as her basement vacuum. Someday, when I can ever convince her, it will be mine...LOL

Oh yeah...

 This appears to be a LATE version, becasue their very last ones did come with a vinyl bag. Like everything that's excellent, Kenmore cheapened the shart out of it until no one liked it anymore. The earlier ones had a huge cloth bag, with a plastic sldie across the top of the bag. Loooking at Jeff P's 1980 brochure should show you how they looked back when they were "current". I wouldn't be at all suprised if that was a last last version judging also that they displayed and stamped the amperages on the handle cover, something they did not do until the 1990's.

Good find tho...

Nice machine Logan. My paternal grandmother had one of those with the big cloth bag. I loved the two speed switch.

bags and belts

 That should use Singer SUB-1 bags(or Eureka F & G), I can't remember what the Sears belt number is(maybe 5270?) but a Hoover Elite belt will work just fine too.

I'd guess the age is early 90's. Sears had several variations on that"heavy duty" theme through the years.

Nice find though, those are getting very RARE!

Hey everyone thanks for the feedback. Now I know what type of bags/belt to use. I must say I'm curious as to how it cleans. Someone told me that are quite loud, etc. so I can't wait to judge for myself.

 Jeff, i like Elite belts on them but, i always wondered about an Oreck belt or even a windtunnel belt??

How it cleans?

 Which brush roll does it have? Two row or 4-row?

These were actually decent cleaners, LOTS of airflow, but they hug the carpet too much IMHO.
Yes get ready for some noise too, they were never quiet machines either. I'd compare the loudness to a Hoover Elite or Concept One.
They were not the most pleasant sounding machines either.

Logan, when you finish your deck, better start adding on another room (LOL). I love when my friends find cool stuff!

Let us know what you think of it. Sears offered this type of cleaner for many years. There were some interesting colors and bag designs on some of the non-commercial ones in the 70s!
