Need a new outer bag for my Royal 886. I see this light blue outer bag for sale advertised on ebay. Do not know if these outer bags fit all/most upright Royal models? Seems the metal ring is standard or?

Bill,

It should fit your machine perfectly.

Outer bag

Thanks Ben!
So helpful.Waiting for that Classic 9700 or a 994-96. Only thing I don't understand about the 886 is the height adjustment for the brush roll. Seems like there is no switch and I didn't get a manual.

Bill,

How to adjust your 886 for the correct brush roll height for your carpet:

There is a black knob located just behind the motor and above the rear wheels. There is also a small black button called the Adjust-O-Rite" button which is located on the center of the belt access cap on the front of the floor nozzle. Turn the black knob counter clockwise to raise the floor nozzle and clockwise to lower it.

Turn on the machine and turn the knob clockwise as you watch the Adjust-O-Rite button. When the button gets sucked in, your Royal is properly adjusted for that carpet.

You may need to re-adjust the the height of the floor nozzle for each type of carpet you have and you will also need to re-adjust the floor nozzle lower as the bag fills with dirt and suction is reduced.

Hope this helps,

-Stan

Thanks Stan....

I did not know what the adjust-o-rite was for.

From Bill...

Stan,
Thanks for the very detailed answer for my 886! Seems complicated when all they needed to do was put a foot switch in like other models. This helps so much when you are new to Royals and don't have a manual for things like this! Love the folks on this site!
