Great news, now all you need is the correct hose. It took me a lot of time searching on eBay to replace the one shown here, which is useless! I found one and it works very well. Problem here is the hoses are 60+ years old and the rubber inside is drying out due to age. I don't use the original hose for cleaning as it leaks air, but it looks so good when I use it for light cleaning. And the happy memories associated with it take m back to 1952.
The ad said 'Christmas present' indicating that it was November, or early December, and this would make the Gala at the Waldorf Astoria in New York (where Madison Square Garden now stands) in October, 1952 correct, and made me 2 years and 1 month old. And because of the nameplate, this could also be a newer ad from December, 1953, showing the model LXI. If only we knew the date of the magazine which was either 'Life,' or 'Look,' 'Good Housekeeping ran Electrolux ads too, but I think this is Life. Enjoy the new (to you) model LX, and post pictures. Alex. |

Alex, Im pretty sure Jimmy Martin has the original hose. i have a newer vinyl hose that came with my AF that I like to use. The 'New' Lx and LXI will be coming soon, and i look forward to it! My grandmother's first Electrolux was a wedding gift, and it was none other than the LXI. She had it until it shorted out in 2004
