So, I recently discovered the hoover decade 80 just surfing online, window shopping. I really like the look of it, but I was wondering, is it one worth buying if I find one? What are the hoover collectors opinions on it?

It's basically a high end convertible. Wonderful machines. Where have you been to never come across one before? Lol

David, you have the Decade 80? or Concept?
I suppose a dirt through the fan cleaner is good if it is above 6 amps.
Wasn't there also a Concept Two, with the stowable hand held vacuum for upholstery?

Well, I just recently started collecting. I always wanted to before but I hadn't really done research or looked to see what was out there, I just knew there were a couple brands I wanted and that's about it lol. But since I've started I've been doing alot of research and finding there are ALOT more sweepers out there than I thought before. Good to hear they are such good sweepers.

I have a Convertible Elite and a Decade 800. Both are great performers. Both have the same body style with exception of the power switch and bags. Convertible Elite is a vinyl bag and single position on/ off but the machine converts to higher speed for attachment mode when handle is in the upright position. It also has the 11 blade fan. The Convertible Elite is 4.3 Amps on floor and 4.7 Amps for tools.

My Decade 800 is a 6.5 Amp motor, cloth bag material, gorgeous navy blue. 6 blade fan. The on/off switch has a surge mode for extra heavy duty.

Both machines are great performers. Deep cleaning and carpet grooming is great. You'll be very impressed installing Type A HEPA bags in them as well! I recommend against using a CWP brush roll. Find a Genuine Hoover brush roll. Both of mine have Hoover 4 brush strip agitators.
