Just surfed over to Sebo Canada's website and I see they are showing a line of commercial uprights with limited electrical components to reduce downtime.

One bizarre feature seems to be easy-to-replace brush-strips right from the side of the power head. Not quite sure how that works without removing the brushroll, but the photo distinctly shows a hand removing just a brush strip from the side of the housing:

Ok, So Here's how,

vacmaster's profile picture
Instead of pulling the full brush roll out, there is only half of the full opening, witch allows access to only the strips, allowing removal. These vacs were showcased at VDTA, and are very simple.

I see...thanks! But is there a way to also slide out the whole brushroll? For cleaning and thread removal, etc.?

Unfortunately,

I don't think there is, but I will have to double check on that. Glad I could help!

Brushstrip removal

Brushstrip is very easy to remove. Here are pictures how it's done in my Kärcher CV36/2 (SEBO BS36).
About removing the whole brushbar I have no idea.

Windsor Versamatic

These seem very similar to the Windsor Versamatic that we have in the U.S! They are amazing machines (for commercial carpet).

Yes that's true. Actually Windsor Versamatic and Kärcher CV36/2 are copy of Sebo BS 36 design.
Very good for carpet cleaning.

There's a black "standard" brush strip for example. As you can see they're just quality brush strips. Quite ingenious really from the SEBO company.

Nar have you had an opportunity to try the new Evolution upright? It is really growing on me and with the Mechanical version using the same bag and tower filter as the X series makes me want to get one even sooner. They look like a more redesinged X series. I will never give up my Essential G but I would really like to add one of these to my Sebo fleet.

I haven't tried the Evolution/Mechanical model as yet but it is a single motor run upright. It is roughly the same weight as an X series upright - however - mates have tried the Evolution in the UK and put it this way, it is slightly bulkier than the X.

The Evolution/Mechanical uses the barrel brush roll and not the X series brush roll that pulls out as one. This is more of a commercial upright rather than a redesigned X upright.

Thanks Nar. I have a tendency to collect more commercial machines anyway. They feel more well thought out just like the Essential G. I may wait to see one on person thought if it is more bulky than the X models.

Updated with capped photo!

sebo_fan's profile picture
Apologies to you Justin - have now capped the photo as shown.

The Sebo brush roll barrel with replaceable strips has been going since 1986...I think!

As all above from those who already own the Sebo/Windsor Versamatic/360. But also the BS36 employs the same brush roll idea. The metal barrel stays inside the vacuum and the brush strips can be changed. SEBO also offer three different brush strips; hard brushes, standard and a new delicate brush strip.

SEBO in the U.S have just been at VDTA 2016 where they have shown the "Mechanical" upright with an X bag which is different for the time being to all other models. Reason being that SEBO in the UK want to offer the Evolution/Mechanical for those in commercial markets rather than domestic.

SEBO U.S at the moment seem to be able to get the Mechanical upright with the X bags as opposed to other markets making do with the BS36/paper dust bags.
