Has anyone any information about these canisters?
Seller is the same who sold the AEG Vampyr 402 for me. All vacuums what he sells are refurbished by him.
Ad says that D780 Royal is 1100 watts and comes with automatic floor nozzle. D740 Automatic is 1000 watts and comes with the powernozzle.

Lux Royal

I found some more info. D780 is actually Lux Royal and it has been sold by door to door salesman.
Slightly newer model or how old these things are?

Nice Mike! Is it cold there? Only 6 degrees F. here, but at least we get some sun.
Viking in Canada used to sell those same Luxes, with a Eureka roto-matic power nozzle added, and I have seen another spin off brand.

Interesting to know! Here is about -2C (28.4 degree F). Not too bad.
It looks like a very solidly built vacuum. I believe that these used to be very expensive vacuums compared to the "market" vacuums. Current model is Lux Intelligence (Sauber in some countries) and it costs around 1500-2000€ depending how well you can "press" the prize down.

Electrolux - Lux Royal

Hej Mike
This model were sold door to door. D740 around 1984-88. D770 around 1992-93
After the name for this models changed to Lux Royal and the colour to grey-blue, as you see on the video. Later it was followed by the D820 with Hepa filter in 1996. if you are interested in more infos, let me know, I have 3 different versions of the D790's with and without electronic control.

Thank You for information! Very nice collection you have there!
I am very tempted to buy that D780. It's like European version of those US Aerus/Electrolux canisters. I just love that quality look of it.
Too shame that D740 comes with the powerhead and D780 not. On the other hand that automatic floor nozzle in D780 is kind of neat. It controls brushes by suction.
Something I noticed is that handle in the D780 is exactly same as my Volta U258.
So question is does the hose from Volta U258 fit to D780? I bought new hose to Volta so it would be nice to use in D780.
How is suction and noise level in these? Let's say compared to Volta U258?

Lux is now Forbes-Lux

Headquartered in the beautiful Canton of Helvetica, still direct sales. Forbes is the Indian subsidiary. Guess what other name they use in India?
Eureka Forbes.

It's funny how same vacuum is sold with different name in different countries. Just like Lux Intelligence in here and Sauber Intelligence in USA.

By the way I just send offer to seller for D780 Royal. Asking prize is 85€. I offered 60€ Lets see...

Hose connection and power outlet

Hej Mike
Those Electrolux has the same hose connection as Volta U258. So the hose you have will fit. Starting from D820 the had other fixing points for the hose.
The connection for the Powerhead is on the front with 2 inclined pins as most Electrolux and Volta had at that time. The power head was sold separatly as accessory.

luxes

Hi Mike!
I think these are quite expensive ones, you can find this D780 maybe for 20-30e, it´s very common vacuum here in Finland. And the motorbrush is excactly the same in both D740 and D780, only difference is the color. I have been looked for your videos and if you need I have a lot of different motor brushes and hoses that I don´t need. There is some problems in old D780´s like floor tools little wheels and automatic suction control (quite easy to fix). This vacuum is made in 1992-1993, I am quite sure. Before that there was D750 first in wine red color 1987 and then the white one. Also there was D748 without suction control and telescopic wand. After this model changed in Lux D790 and D775 without suction control. And after this brand Electrolux and Volta sold both in stores, and Lux was only in door to door sale.

I have made videos also with D780 and D790, I will add these in youtube soon.

and you can put me email: markus.nieminen@saunalahti.fi, it´s easier to speak and write finnish=)

Br. Markus

Yes prize he is asking is a bit too expensive so I have to think twice what I do.
I am quite new at collecting vacuums and I have to calm down, before I go to bankrupt :D
New vacuums are still coming for sure and those 80's Electrolux tanks are awesome.

Those older Electrolux models are getting a bit more rare these days. D790 is still a very common machine and I have even picked up one for free in Tampere. The 790s are often sold in Tori.fi or Huuto.net for quite a reasonable price. Interestingly my free one was made in Sweden and there were small differences between it and my newer "made in EU" D790s. The powerhead that came with D790 is basically the same model that was intruduced back in the 1970s (was it with Z325?) and was even used with the early D820 models. Only the coulour of the nozzle changed to match with the vacuum cleaner model and D820 had a different connection type but the powerhead itself was the same.

I haven't been able to find a D740 myself. I DO own two D720s and one D730. I have to confess that about 10 years ago I threw away one broken D720 and one D730. I wasn't interested in repairing and collection vacuum cleaners back then.
