Question of the day, what is the sweeper you'd most like to have that you don't already own? And if you already do have have your dream sweeper, what is it? Mine is a kirby legend 2, I would be absolutely excited to get my hands on one!

Early Kenmores

I would love one of the late 50s/ early 60s Kenmores. The Whispertone, Aurora etc. Too bad they're hard to find. Good luck on your quest and welcome to the group.

My Grandma had a mint Hoover 63, not a scratch on it. I was devistated when I found out she traded it in on a Simplicity 7250 I now have along with her Electrolux XXX.

I already have it. A Premier Vacuum Cleaner Model 21. It is from a club member who ended up doing some traveling and asked if I was still interested. My grandmother had one of these and I ran it everyday when I was there. I do have it as well, but the bag has been patched several times and the wheels broke (bakelite). I salvaged the handle, motor and cord for spares, if I ever need it. The brush roll in the one in the picture is in great shape and makes it a viable cleaner to use.

Tough to say

human's profile picture
I don't really find myself yearning for a particular machine, although there are a few I had or that were in my family that I sometimes wish I had back:

• My grandmother's 1977 vintage orange Eureka Princess with matching power nozzle. It was my main machine from about 1996-2003. Its ignoble fate is well documented elsewhere on this site and I won't bore you with the details again. Still, I have an inordinate sense of loss regarding this machine and I don't understand why.

• My parents' pink and gray Lewyt canister. We used it until the hose fell apart but the machine itself never quit. I've never seen another one exactly like it and I doubt I ever will.

• My grandparents' Electrolux. I think it was an LXI. It was in use in their house for as long as I can remember. It was probably still in the hall closet when I last set foot in there after my grandfather's funeral in 2001. Although long gone now, it's probably why I gravitate toward Electroluxes and have a 1205 and a Super J today.

• My Kirby Heritage 1HD. My most recent ex-girlfriend "borrowed" it three years ago, promptly pitched her Oreck in the dumpster and never gave it back. This would probably be the easiest of the lot to replace, but I guess you could say I've already replaced it with either the G5 or the Gsix I picked up last year, or knowing my personality, maybe both.

I'm not actively on the hunt for any of these machines; I've got too many vacuum cleaners as it is. But if the opportunity to acquire one in nice shape for a good price were to arise, well then we'd just have to see, wouldn't we?

That particular model Radiance is now a retired model (the R40Premium replaced it). Many dealers may be discounting it heavily so they can restock with the new model. We have a number of the white Radiance in stock at the factory outlet store.

Wow. I didn't know it was no longer being made. To be honest, I like the pearl white better than the blue on the new R40P. How much would it cost to get one shipped from the factory outlet to Alabama? (Not that I can afford it.)

Here is the new Radiance R40P that replaced the Radiance RADP. It says it has the Heads Up dirt sensor, but I can't figure out how that is acheived since they took away the two amber LED's. Also, it looks like they changed the HEPA filter on the side of the machine. I'd like to know more about this new Radiance.

I'd like to get my hands on an early Hoover Swingette 404.
I also wouldn't mind finding a convertible 719 because my parents used on as a DD 20 years ago or so and trashed it and then bought a maroon bagged Eureka
whirlwind? I think it was? Way back when I was only a few years old before I knew the importance of good old American quality. Other machines I'd love to own:

-Later made dial-a-matic
-Hoover decade 80
-kirby sentria series or current model
-kirby classic 1cr
-Early made Convertible
-mid 90s Hoover powerdrive supreme
-Hoover Windtunnel (parents owned one from 2000-2005)

A few others that I'd say I'd most like to get ahold of would be a dyson dc01 and a good condition for dc07 that isn't crazy priced for it's condition (my parents had a dc07 for years so it's a little special to me). I think the hoovee decade 80 has quickly been climbing my list towards the top. Honorable mentions go to the dirt devil cruiser. I just like how it looks lol.

Vintage Panasonic Jet Flo canister. Similar design but with headlight of the one n this Youtube video below.

Also a blue or red colored Eureka canned ham with this extreme center mounted headlight. The one in this advertisement is gorgeous!!

Also it's a want and extreme rush. But am seeking a navy blue colored or dark green color based Hoover Convertible upright with round metal handle and traditional vintage style flick switch. A rubber mounted hand grip will be considered but first choice is the plain round metal handle. My Hoover knowledge isn't there to think of a model right off the bat!! Motor preference is to a 4.3 Amp or 420 Watt. I don't know my Hoover models that well. Preferable to a 1070 styled headlight hood, Convertible 700 styled hood or possibly Ranger.

I've seen first hand sharks seem to work excellent, my parents just got a brand new one and their carpets look great. But, really their looks just don't stand out to me. Plus normally (there is some exception) I prefer a more beefy or larger looking sweeper, and most sharks are more compact.

My aunt had a new one back in 1964. I discovered it behind her sofa one day when I was four. I said AAwwwhh! where is the hose at? She said, that's a secret. I didn't even know what a power nozzle was then. My mom had a Eureka vibra beat.

1962 GE C-100 swivel top with power nozzle

Original grey Electrolux PN-1 power nozzle for my AF

A late 50s grey Kenmore Vanguard canister with the outlet port for its optional power nozzle. I already have the matching power nozzle.

And last but not least on the holy grail side of things, I want the very first Filter Queen power team from the 60s with its first whirlpool type power nozzle that was featured for Filter Queen before GE started making all the ones we all know from the 70s through the 90s.

Not sure....

I want any more vacs until everything here is restored. Tired of giving up $$$ on eBay. My idea of 'treasure' would be to find some vintage Lux canister still in the original box, extremely well cared for or never used. I know, like being hit by a meteor.....but I've seen pics of such finds!

Hope is a hard thing to let go of.....but then there's reality.

A couple "carmargue blue" (navy) & "platinum gray" Hoover ranger hood Convertibles are the models U4521 (w/Type A bag) and U4523 (w/dust cup).

Beyond those, here are some other blue Convertibles listed by model, hood style, and Hoover shade terms copied kirbyvertibles' list (some later models not on his list are listed without some details):

U4005-full "stellar", U4021-squared "powder", U4027-rounded "stellar", U4085- (Bicentennial) squared "sea", U4075-squared "sea", U4099-squared "sea", U4103-full "sea", U4111-squared "denim", U4121-rounded, U4129-squared, U4163 rounded "powder", U4171-rounded, U4193-001-"brittany", U4349-squared "Jamaican", U4363-squared, U4369-full, U4373-squared, U4389-squared, U4401-squared, U4423-"Olympic", U4449-squared, U4519-squared, U4531-rounded

I don't know which ones have the 4.8A motors and am unfamiliar with any dark green Convertibles.

I had a beautiful Epic 6000 with the original woven hose and everything. I used the heck out of it. I sold it a few years ago but I wish I had kept it.

There are 3 vacuums that I really like the most. One of them I already have, one will soon be mine, but the other one I'm not sure If I could have or not and it's my Grandpa's early 80's Vacumaid P-125 Central Vacuum. If I don't get it when he passes away, that's what I'm going to be looking for. Not only just the unit but the inlets that came with these as well and this particular white hose he uses with this Vacumaid Deluxe powerhead.

For now, I'm still trying to figure out what the model is on our Sharp Twin Energy we used to have at one time. Here's the link if you're interested in viewing.

I know that

when I first started actually collecting vacuums....at least consciously....the turquoise Lux's like the G and the 1205 were plentiful and cheap on eBay. Then, it seems like the color became really popular and they dried up to a certain extent and/or are expensive to buy now.....especially the turquoise G in decent condition.

Glad I got in on the ground floor there....lol
