I got this vintage Black & Decker "Super Dustbuster" off eBay a few weeks ago and as I imagined, the batteries are dead, they had leaked out so I through them out, does anyone know where I could get any new batteries for this, they are not in like a pack like the newer ones, they clip in seperately and are connected by small wires with spade connectors! Surpised actually since not long after this one was mad they changed it to a battery pack that is soldered in.

Anyway, any suggestions would be great :) seems a shame since It is all complete and in great condition, conplete woth spare filter that is date stamped 88! It, along with the upholstery tool was very cleverly hidden under a flap at the top of the charging dock.

The first generation Dustbuster was much better, although I do not know if your native homeland ever carried it back then (1979-1985).

This is the earliest Argos catalogue scan I can find, this is from 1985.

The dustbuster looks the exact shame body style and switch as the one you showed. All our Dustbusters were the same as your ones, ours were made in England, not sure about your ones.

Alex,

Yes, our Dustbusters were more or less domestically built. I'd like to think your version (at the time) was likely imported from the U.S. unassembled, and then finished in the U.K.

Possibly so, this is what the rating plate says on my 1988 Dustbuster.

I find it a little off that Dustbusters here did not say Dustbuster on them until the early 90s

The filter may have been made in 1988 but that cleaner ran well into the middle of the 1990's -if not even longer- as one of the cheapest dust-busters one could buy.

I believe this design was last seen in Argos 92
