Good morning,

I have an old Kirby 514 that belonged to my aunt. Its very dirty and corroded tho it was never stored outside. The motor went out and she gave it to me. I have no idea if its worth restoring.
I probably dont have time to do it myself because of other projects that need completing.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Cord and wheels?

Are the cord and wheels in good shape?  If so, I'd be willing to buy those off of you.  :-)

Since your aunt is still alive, why don't you send the machine back to the Kirby Company under the rebuild warranty? They will totally rebuild it, shine it up, etc. for a very small amount (under $40). Check it out on the Kirby website, it's a rebuilding service that all Kirby original owners are entitled to.

That's actually a great suggestion. It looks like the rubber is all gone anyway, the cord and bag are not originals, and with the motor being shot, etc. it would cost far more to get it in working and presentable order than it would cost to send it to Kirby for a rebuild.
