~ When I was in the fifth grade, one of the little girls who lived near us got one of these for Christmas. I was over there playing with it more than she did! CLICK HERE TO GO TO electrolux137's LINK on eBay |

I remember the girl next door to my grandma (who I have remained friends with) had a toy kinda like this, only way more rudimentary with no accessories, and BOY did I want one! Of course, I was told about girls' toys vs. boys' toys, blah blah blah. I never did get one.
I would have played with this thing until it broke! Well, it looks like it did break... so maybe I did play with it in another lifetime! |

My toy vac from my childhood was the kid size Hoover 63. Got it for Christmas when I was 2 1/2. Unfortunately, batteries leaked & ruined it (common problem with toys in the late 50's & early 60's) and out it went. Also got a tin stove, sink, refrigerator, & wringer washer (think they were Marx) the following year, along with a Marx 027 gauge electric train. There was no "girls toys/boys toys" discussion in our house, but I eventually gravitated more toward the "boys toys" anyway. I still have the train, but the toy kitchen appliances were eventually given to a girl whose family who lost everything in a house fire.

Well you did better than I did a full 20+ years later! I never got any of the toys I really wanted. As a result, I never really got into toys past my toddler years. Washing machines, vacuums, and garage door openers fascinated me far more than any GI Joe could.
My how things have changed. TODAY, I could get a lot more enjoyment from a GI Joe... |
