We are updating the roster for the VCCC so please check your personal email accounts. The roster is optional, if you do not wish to have your address on the roster than please disregard my email. I understand that some members may have privacy concerns. Remember, having your information on the roster is optional.

Thank you for your corporation!

Roster:

Hi Kenneth I'm the person who created the first one, which consisted of 6 members including John Lucia and myself. From January 1983 till May of 95, I watched it grow, and got personally involved with each member. In 95 I retired from the club and the running of it, but as it's creator I do keep a fatherly eye on it. I've already provided you with my information and would love to have a contact list of the membership. Saddly, a number of close friends are gone, two of those being Craig Long (our first member) and David Watters.

So I'll wait with batted breath for the roster, good luck.
Alex Taber.

Thank You, Kenny

I still use my old one for reference.  ALL of The V.C.C.C. info should be correct and accurate.  It all had to be on our club membership application.  True,  some people don't wish to put their 'info' out there,  but, it's amazing what can be found simply by using "Google"

If one doesn't want to share ay info,  that's your option. But,  we really do need updated info. Thanks, again, Kenny, for taking this on.

 John

Thanks John,

I will make it as accurate as possible. It all depends on the information that I'm given. I realized that I used corporation instead of cooperation. My last line should read:

Thank you for your cooperation!

I'm more than happy do the work and I'm excited to have a roster again as our club needs it!

Membership

Hello Kenny,

I was a member for many years. Then after moving several times, well lets just say things got really messed up. I have E-Mailed several members and nobody replies to me. I guess they don't want me in the club anymore.

Thanking you in advance for any help you can be.

I'm only an hour away.  You should come to my next minimeet. My late father used to live there.

I find this interesting, sad, and funny...

...all at the same time...

Please note that while I rarely post on this website anymore (perhaps twice a year) - I rarely miss a day when I don't check in and I had to chime in.

Some may recall at the end of 2011, a big push to update the roster was conducted by yours truly, through a club survey. At the same time, members were asked to vote on their preference as to the type of VCCC newsletter would be provided. The update/survey was done by US Mail, E-mail, and postings to this website. It was hugely successful.

Here's some stats:

There were 124 responses.

Of those, there were only 2 members that did not show an E-mail contact. Only 1 did not show a phone contact - (generally, people included both cell phone and land line contacts). I believe the membership was satisfied that no contact information would be sold or given to outside entities.

84 members voted to receive a printed newsletter, 40 voted to receive electronic newsletters.

Now, along with the newly acquired - up to date membership information, I devised a system whereby a member's contact information was updated virtually automatically. A minor tweak in the website would be required, and accessible by the membership in the "apply to the VCCC" area of the website. The system was cloud-based, and monitored/maintained by four club administrators, those being the President, Vice-President, Membership Coordinator, and Treasurer. All that was required (and could easily be done at the same time one paid their club dues), was to update any changed information. Any one of the four administrators could update the information immediately. In essence, there would never be a need to "update" the roster, as this would be done continually.

The same cloud-based system could be accessed to print mailing labels for either the newsletter, or for correspondence concerning club business and the individual member, or if a general US mailing was required. It also gave administrators instant access for phone or E-mail conversation should that ever be required. Also, if a member chose to not be on the club roster should one be printed - they did not have to appear on it.

It was a good system (if I may say so).....

but,

other "Powers that Be" decided it was too much work to maintain even though I offered my complete attention to it (being Vice-President), and the system (already devised and operating) was never put to use.

Other decisions were made considering club operation and Newsletter handling and within weeks I made my exit from the club.

I bring all this up only because I know a lot of work is ahead for those "creating" a current club roster knowing that doing so now would not be necessary. You have my sympathy.

Rick

I appreciate that a lot, Rick

gottahaveahoove's profile picture

and, it's great to hear from you again.  I wasn't on the board then, so, I kknew nothing about that.  So,  then...... WHY CAN'T we just activate this?  Wasn't it also easier when The V.C.C.C. and Vacuumland were not separate?  I'm all for updating, creating, (pick a verb), a new, concise, up tp date roster.  I know some members have died, left, or were banned...........................

Just trying to help Kenny and the good of the "Whole".

 John.

Thank you Rick W.

I detest drama and politics, things that we've never been without unfortunately. You and many others have either left the club and/or refrain from posting on the website and that is a huge loss for many. Just this weekend, I received a private email(informative, not hateful) responding to one of my posts. He said he still reads the forum but no longer chooses to post. It makes me wonder how many people there are like him. I do think after the separation of the club and website, things took a turn. I was aware of the survey turnout and just shook my head in amazement when we switched to electronic, as many did. I wouldn't think it would've just been us "old schoolers" that wanted paper, but didn't know the demographics of the major opinion. I know you put a lot of work and expertise into the club, and offered your help, but to no avail, and that saddened myself and others. You and many others are missed at the conventions, and your posts on the forum. My hat is off to Kenny for trying to start the club website and putting together a new roster, and wish him well also! I also thank Robert for monitoring and keeping up this website as just proved a couple of days ago when we had a new vile "phantom" poster. What is wrong with some people, really!

Rick, I agree totally! Things could be a lot more simple. :)

Thanks Rick, you just proved what I have felt all along, members want a printed newsletter. Being president, I have been approached by many a member wishing for a printed newsletter to return. Maybe other clubs can get by with an electronic newsletter, I just think the VCCC isn't one of them. Many people really treasured the newsletter and for some, it was their only connection to the club. When we stopped mailing it out, we lost a lot of members. I am sorry you had to quit, I do miss you being around the club, you were someone that I could tell really cared about the club. Thanks again for posting this, it has enlightened many of us.
