Ugh! I really want to get away from kirby but they always seem to hook me again...

I really want to stick with light weigh canister vacuums, as they are easy to empty, washer filters, attached accessory hose and everyone on one cleaning device...but....

I had a kirby streak, maybe a year ago at the thrift...I was getting shampoo attachments regularly and then I found a G4. I just bought a huge project a church and house in Missouri! I need to relocate and was opting to toss all the "stuff" I have gathered I just didn't need and the kirby "pile" was going back to the thrift. As the G4 wasn't in the best of shape to sell....

I was searching on google for something complete opposite from a "kirby" and a discussion was found about door to door salesmen and the G5. I read it all and it peaked my attention back to the kirby, just the thought that someone may have paid 3k for this vac and here I am using a 40$ bissell :p

I decided, that since I am purchasing a house and I have a variety of vintage rugs from red shag to Victorian wool rugs. I need something that won't eat the carpet...

So back to the Kirby bubble....

I ordered new bags, belts and a accessory hose. I then told my self I need to clean/refresh this thing before I toss on a new bag...

The G4 was in great shape, with the original scratch protector on the handle still, drive/transmission still functioning and the brush was still in great shape...but...it looked like someone abused the heck out of it in a short period of time...

The entire insides was covered dust n gunk, like the seals failed and someone never changed the bag. I couldn't figure out why the inside is covered in so much gunk...

I took the entire machine to bits, just to clean it up. I even resealed the front and resealed the gasket that seals the motor. Everything else was in surprisingly great shape, brushes are almost brand new! I just dropped a bit of oil on the bearing...

I don't know why, the vacuums in this town, are always covered in kitchen grease...It looks like someone used it to suck up their bacon grease...so odd...

The outer bag was filthy, like someone ran it with out a bag...I soaked it, and then rinsed it twice...until the water wasn't black...I believe the machine can now breath...

Today I also bought a random carrying case of accessories for the vacuum too...It looks like I am on my way to a nice vacuum...After five hours of cleaning!

Sorry pics aren't the best, will try to get some nice after ones, when it is all together....
