~ The polisher is loads of fun to use and makes a wonderful whoosing, warbling sound right out of a 1950s flying saucer movie! However, its small footprint makes it inefficient for heavy-duty work. It's most useful for areas such as small kitchens and bathrooms. The best wax for it is liquid floor wax, which can be found but you'll have to look for it. The most readily available nowadays is called "Wood Preen." You might find it at smaller hardware stores such as ACE; or look for it on-line. If you're a glutton for punishment and like getting down on your hands and knees, you can use paste wax which is a LOT more work! The Electrolux polisher embodies all about vacuum cleaners that I was obsessed over when I was a little boy. My mom had one (with her Electrolux E-Automatic) and it was a very happy day for me whenever she set-to polishing our home's hardwood floors with it. In later years she got a turquoise B7 upright polisher which made the waxing & polishing work go much, much faster. I have a very early polisher which has a highly polished housing instead of hammertone blue. It's so shing that it looks like it was chrome-plated. Check it out! |

~ The unit with the drill, circular saw, hedge clipper, etc. was a later version called the Turb-O-Tool. It was introduced during the late run of the Model E-Automatic, finished in hammertone blue. When the Model F came out, the Turb-O-Tool's colors were changed to match the Model F and more accessories were added, including a new (and wholly useless!) rug shampooer setup. The name was also slightly simplified to Turbotool. When the Model G came out, the Turbotool was continued for a while with the same color scheme but with some turquoise accents. Then the Rug Washer was introduced, which had a built-in shampoo tank and a larger brush. The "focus on functionality" was changed from floor polisher to rug shampooer, although a set of floor polishing brushes was still provided. The Rug Washer was sold for many years, at least as late as the Grand Marquise [that's the newest version I've seen], its colors changing over time to match the current model. It's surprising that so many of these were sold considering what a lousy job of shampooing they did. I guess that was thanks to fast-talk, high-pressure salesmen! |

Will let you know when I get it and use it. We have hardwood floors all over the house so that is why I thought of getting one. |

~ Well, as I said above, the polisher attachment is fun to use but impractical for your entire home or large areas. Your best bet would be a good upright electric polisher. There are always plenty of them on eBay. Or check out local thrift shops and yard sales. Since so few people use electric floor polishers any longer, they tend to show up second-hand fairly plentifully. |

Andy - if you decide to buy the polisher, make sure all the parts are included. Mine is missing the small and large white delicate brush. It only came with the small and large black brush. |
