my grandmother had a Hoover DAM that I ran and hid from each and every time. I could swear that MONSTER machine nearly sucked me up at one time when I was a kid. My mother had a similar Hoover DAM that I was equally afraid of. Share your DAM nightmares here!

Not nightmares, but I've got one (Not even sure of the model number, it's all beige, power drive, headlight) that doesn't pick anything up or groom the carpet. It's pretty useless in my opinion, a poor excuse for a vacuum cleaner. The belts are fine and it's not clogged. Has decent suction at the attachment port, but just doesn't pick up. Fresh bag, no exhaust filter.

My Mom had a DAM-she used it along with the central cvacs in the places she lived in.She always used the DAM for the rugs and carpets. She never used the tools on her DAM-used the central units instead. She repallced the DAM with a Kirby G4-asked her what happened to the dAM-she said the Kirby guy took it.She didn't care since the DAM was pretty old adn beat up at that point.Ten she got a Panasonic upright-she didn't like the Kirby afterawhile-complained it was smelling "dusty"So she went to Denton Tx Sew&Vac and traded it for a Panasonic upright. That was the last vacuum I know of that she owned.

You're not the only one that's been terrorized by killer vacuum cleaners.

I always thought they were those menacing Kirby's, but maybe it's the potential evil that can exist with any vacuum.

When I was about 5, I thought a night light slyly glowing, in a dark room, that I could see from the door way to that room, at an Aunts house, was that of the eye of a very scary looking, a, a, I saw it earlier in the day with it's brown cord and brown striped bag, and it, it really spooked me.... [gulp] I can't say..... anymore. I SWEAR IT WAS LOOKING AT ME. If I didn't stay in the safety of the light, it would.....
