When I picked up the Electrolux The Boss it was in full working order, however recently I noticed it would not hold in the upright position securely so decided to investigate further.

Not surprisingly, the below pictures show what I found.

Question is, I don't have the piece that has snapped off so how would I go about fixing it, so that the pedal has something to hold the cleaner upright securely?

It is maybe obvious, but I've never done a DIY repair on my vacuums so am pretty clueless.

That is going to be tough, it looks like the broken piece locks into that depression to hold the handle up

Indeed it did which is why I'm at a loss on how to fix it.

I'm sure there has to be some solution, but I know it will be difficult.

I would have never guessed you weren't well schooled in repairs at all! Good luck

That's a common problem, but a hard one too! Can a replacement release be sourced? If not, maybe you can restore the missing bit with some kind of strong epoxy? Good luck! laughing

Try espares. You may have to contact Electrolux for a parts diagram so that you know what you are actually looking for. Also ask Sam on here *beko as he may well be able to help.
