So I was reading here on the forum the other day (dont remember what thread) and somebody said on all the later body Lux's, keep the exhaust door closed. That made sense to me. What didnt was when they said when you close the exhaust door, it sends the air through a filter then out the side vents. I always thought Electrolux's after the Lx didnt have an after filter until the Plastic Bodies? Also, my Lx has the original filter to a Lux XXX in it. im deciding if i should replace it, or just go without it (the filter smells old). Any advice? i only keep it in right now since it holds 2 drier sheets in the exhaust for a better smell
Thanks!
Andy Rousonelos

The Automatic E was the last metal body to use an after filter.
The plastic bodied use after filters.

LX uses a square filter, the model XXX uses a round filter. If you get a Renaissance filter and cut it down it will fit a LX, LXI, E or AE.

Just one little thing to note here about filters on metal body Electrolux canisters - whenever someone says that the metal body canisters have no after-filter, that applies ONLY to the American models. Here in Canada, all of our Canadian Electrolux metal body canisters have ALWAYS had a after-filter....all the way back to the ZB30, which was first introduced in 1939. I think the model XII, introduced in 1932, had a after-filter as well, but don't quote me on that.

Gotcha. Im going to just take the filter off the Lx, until this spring when i go to aerus for all new hoses as my straight suction hose is falling apart

Here in the US the model XI didn't have an after filter but it had a pre filter.
Model XII had an after filter
Model XXX had an after filter
Model LX had an after filter
Model LXI had an after filter
Model E had an after filter
Model AE had an after filter
Model G Hospital had a HEPA after filter

After that they didn't use an after filter until the plastic bodies

Ok. Whoever said that originally must have been wrong. Im took the XXX filter off, it was in terrible shape for its age. Its holding together, but its very dirty
