I know that each of the vacuum cleaner models from Riccar has a Simplicity counterpart and I've been wondering if a bag for a Riccar model would be compatible with that model's Simplicity counterpart even if it's not said on the package.

Also, Fuller Brush is another sister company of Riccar and their parent company, Tacony, also make Maytag vacuums, and I wonder if the bags for certain Riccar models could also be used with certain Fuller Brush and Maytag models. I would especially like to know if the bags for the pre-R10 models of the SupraLite's could fit into the up-to-date Speedy Maid model from Fuller Brush.

tacony bags

Yes, the bags that work with the Riccar model will also work with the Simplicity model. The only differences are the name and the color. Personally I think it's silly to make the exact same product with two difffernt brands. If I was the head of Tacony, one of the first things I would do is change this so each model had only one name. The way they do things makes it so much more complicated, and there's no bbenefit at all to doing this. Having only one model would be much less to keep track of. I'm not sure about the Fuller Brush models, perhaps someone else can comment on that.

The new Fuller Brush Speedy Maid is, in fact, the old style ULW with a two speed motor. So, the Simplicity Freedom and the Riccar SupraLite bags with the cardboard (not plastic) bag collar are all the same.

There are, in reality, only a few different bags.

There are two bags for the ULW models, one with a plastic collar (current design - self sealing) and one with a cardboard collar (manual seal).

On-board tool uprights Vibrance and Symmetry use type A bags.
Simplicity 7000 series and Riccar 8000 series use bag type B.

Tandem-Air machines Synchrony and Brilliance use type W bags

Tandem-Air Synergy and Radiance use type X bags.

If the bag collar is plastic, there are four choices. Green is for the ULW, Red is for the single-motor bypass uprights, Blue is for the standard Tandems (R30, S30, Maytag M1200), and yellow is for the big Tandems (R40, S40).

The reason for the different names is this: Many times vac shops are close by each other in large cities. One will carry Riccar, and the next closest will carry Simplicity (we also make Simplicity and Baby Lock sewing machines which are sold in vac and sew shops). Fuller Brush is a retail store brand (bed, bath, and beyond). Maytag is a major appliance store brand.

And, just to make it more confusing, CleanMAX, Tornado, Tennent, CarpetPro, and Powr-Flite are also Tacony commercial brands, and they (for the most part) use the same bags are their Simplicity and Riccar counterparts.

I have been wondering for a while why Riccars and Simplicies where the same machine, just different name. Thank you for explaining that, Tom.

So Tom, does it mean that the type F bags for the older SupraLite models and the R10E are compatible with the Speedy Maid modeled FB-SM?

And what does "ULW" stand for?

Yes, the type F bags for the Entry Level model Ultra Light Weight uprights (both Simplicity and Riccar) are the same bags as the Fuller Brush Speedy Maid (the current one).
