Does anyone know if there is a Sebo attachment adapter? I would like to use standard American accessories on the Sebo D4. I really like the Dyson long dusting brush.

Thanks,

David

I like having a universal adapter for my Miele S8 FreshAir canister. It allows me to use a nice soft Kenmore horsehair dusting brush on my Miele! The adapter only cost around $8.

Would be good if someone started making an adapter for Sebo users too.

There is an adapter available for SEBO tools from other brands tubes on cylinder/canister vacs. However much to my dismay the adapter isn't all that good and it isn't one that fits from a 32mm to the approximate 36mm measurement of SEBO tools or floor heads in general.

Due to their commercial origins SEBO have never really added an adaptor fitting fit for other brands. Maybe one will appear in the future but I have been waiting for one to appear in the last ten years or so...

The only way around it is to get a joiner or to DIY one yourself from a plastic tube and cut to fit. I tried plumbing connectors but they are either too small or too wide...

Sebo do make 32mm and 35mm adaptors to allow the use of their tools on other manufacturers' cleaners, but unfortunately these do not work in reverse (i.e. they will not allow you to use alternative tools on a Sebo). Dyson are doing exactly the same with their click-fit tools, although at least one third party supplier over here now offers their own adaptor to solve this issue.

Just measured the male hose end on my D4, and it comes in slightly under 1.5" diameter. I know Shop Vac offer accessories in that size, including various connectors and reducers, so that may well be worth looking into.

there is a sebo adapter

There is an adapter available that will allow you to use standard attachments on a Sebo vacuum. It works on the D1, it should also work on the D4 if the hose size is the same. Sebo's hose is an odd size, and it's different from Miele's size as well. When I discovered the difference, I tried to find an adapter, and had I not found one, I would have probably returned my D1. It's a great vacuum but not being able to use standard attachments is a deal breaker for me. It's not a perfect fit, sometimes the wand will come loose while cleaning, but it does work. Here is the link to the one I bought.

another sebo adapter

Looks like there is also a plastic Sebo adapter that will allow standard attachments to be used on Sebo hoses, I don't have this one so can't say how well it works, but it's sold by the same place that sells the metal one. You mentioned you wanted to use Dyson attachments, I think Dyson has used different sizes of attachments on their different models. You may want to make sure the attachment you want to use with your Sebo is the standard 32 MM size, that's what these adapters work with. It would be nice if all manufacturers used the same size of attachments, it would make things much easier.

Oh dear.

Looks like I'll have to make a video of the German Sebo attachment adaptor I bought that clearly doesn't work.

On the Sebo upright x4 cleaner, the Numatic back-to-back adaptor will fit rather neatly into the hose cuff. This allows 32mm tools to then be used. The adaptor fits much less well into the main extention tube, and I have no idea if it works at all on cylinder models.

Thank you so much Benny. I forgot why I had the adaptor from years ago. It doesn't just fit the Sebo hose on the X but also on the Felix and on ALL hoses of the SEBO range including the extra 3 metre stretch extension hose.

We have now designed and produced this set.

The set allows any Dyson tool (including any 32mm tool) to fit any Sebo vacuum.

I am attaching photos of the set and linking a blog post that explains more and gives links to all the buying avenues internationally.

I have made my own adapter so I can use standard 32mm tools in my Sebo K1 Airbelt.
