For about 10 years, I have been using a Kenmore Powermate (with magicord) canister, 116.5672. I went to turn it on last week and got nothing. After removing the bottom, I examined the wiring from the foot pedal to the motor. Then I plugged it in and tried the foot pedal again and got a fire flash at the outlet. WHOOPS! I think I fried the motor if it wasn't already "fried". Assuming that the motor IS the problem, this motor is no longer available as far as I can tell. Since Sears used the same or similar motors for many years, is there another part number I can put in there? What about a motor from another manufacturer? Any tests that can be performed? I only see the motor, the pedal and the cord. Is that all there is? The parts diagram from SEARS is very blurry and impossible to read the part numbers. Also, is this vacuum a mid-1960's model or some other time frame? I do not have photos right now, but can add some as soon as I receive the new SD cards I ordered. Avie
