The link isn't really necessary. I included it in case the photo upload didn't work. |

In order to sell a $2600 vacuum, I guess you have to S-T-R-E-T-C-H the truth a little bit. The cleaning company is just parroting what they were told in the Rainbow demo. It may even be owned by a Rainbow salesperson. |

I just saw their website. Their whole business is a ploy to promote the machine. www.facebook.com/rainbowb... |

It is an awesome machine! However, I'm a clean freak and the first 2 years I vacuumed daily with a well maintained Kenmore Can in my brand new house with berber. When I got my Rainbow in 2006, yes the water was dirty, but not horribly dirty....so the Kenmore canister was doing it's job. I just like using my rainbow to dust the house because it has the 14 foot hose and small wand and dusting brush that I can get high and low. With any other vacuum, that quick release handle is too bulky when dusting with the dusting brush trying to get into tight spaces. I sometimes use the rainbow PN, but not always. I find more and more I'm using the rainbow to dust my entire house floor to ceiling.

The way they see it: If they're driving out to your house, hoping you're actually there and didn't forget, they want more than $25 of work to do. House cleaners are shockingly expensive. Even when they're not very good. |

My partner's mother cleans homes for a living. She charges over $120 for an 8-hour day, and she works alone. Honestly, that's a bargain. Once people KNOW someone is cleaning for them, they tend to become very lazy, sloppy, and entitled about their personal upkeep of their home. "I'm NOT going to pick up that trash/food/mess! What are we paying Maria for?!" Then the homeowners expect the home to look cleaner/better than it did after the previous visit, despite the additional trash/grime they have been putting in place.
Whoever thinks $25 is sufficient for an entire crew, AND would expect their toilet and oven to be cleaned (two different rooms' amenities) has a similar outlook. I'm damn glad that I and my loved ones don't clean that home. |

of someone else cleaning my house.
Things that go through my mind: If they used strong cleaner in the shower or the vanity or the toilet, did they rinse it well? I mean, if you sit on the toilet, are you sitting on half ass (no pun) rinsed chemicals, or step in the shower where perhaps they sprayed Tilex. Did they bother to rinse it well so that it doesn't get on your skin. All these thoughts go through my mind because I know how people are. It's not their house and you can't follow behind them watching them EVERY second...you can make something look clean without it actually being cleaned properly.....so I have always just done it myself.....Unless it's someone that I REALLY trust when it comes to doing something like that. My cousin cleaned houses back when I lived in NC in an area called Connestee Falls outside of Brevard. It is a gated area in the mountains where mostly rich people lived and they spent their time there during the summer months and went back to Florida for the winter. At one point her helper was in the hospital and she asked me if I would help her. I did not NEED or want to do this at all, but I did help her for a couple of week and I HATED it!!! I do not enjoy cleaning even though I'm a clean freak. I found that I did not clean their houses the way I would clean my own because it was not mine......So I assume in my warped mind that everyone else is the same way. It's not mine so I'm not going to clean it as if it were mine. |

I've never had anyone clean my house for me. But if I did, I would want them to CLEAN the entire house. Not just do the vacuuming, which I can do myself. I would want them to do the things I don't like to do, like clean the fridge, the oven, the toilets, etc. Vacuuming is the easiest thing, cleaning the bathroom is not. For $25, I want them to do the things I don't want to do, not the very thing I enjoy. Many people I guess don't like vacuuming, but if I had them come to my house, and paid them $25 to vacuum 2 rooms, I'd make them use my Central Vac.

It isn't difficult to make the water in a rainbow look dirty. Any time you mix dirt, dust and hair with water it is going to look disgusting. I agree with the above mentioned; it is amazing how misleading the vacuum cleaner business is. This is why good machines (SEBO, Miele, etc.) don't need to advertise. They do the job and do it well. No need to trash others and mislead when you have a good product. Problem is, most vacuums on the market are crap. If they told the truth they wouldn't make a dime. You get what you pay for although I am not a Dyson fan. It is too "plasticy" for me and I don't like bagless. Give me my SEBO any day!!

"...hardwood floors do have dirt that gets between the slats"
Yeah, if the floor isn't sealed in the first place. Sorry to disappoint you Shrink but SEBO and Miele both advertise their vacuums/floorcare ranges. Might not be in the U.S but they do appear to advertise worldwide, either online or in the press. |
