Hello everybody, I'm about to buy an Electrolux Super J off of Craigslist for $20. I was wondering if I can service the bearings myself, or if they're sealed. Thanks in advance for any help! :-) |

Congratulations on your new find. I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure the bearings can be replaced. See the link for an old post on how to do it. Good luck! CLICK HERE TO GO TO sanc's LINK |

The front bearing by the fans is held in by two plates that are riveted to the bearing plate. Just drill out the rivets and then you can replace the bearing. When you put it back together just pop rivet the two plates back in place or just use screws and nuts.
The rear bearing is a sleeve bearing, there is a special tool to seat the sleeve at the correct depth. |
