How often do you maintain your vacuum ?
I maintain my Compact Electra C9 Canister vacuum every 4 to 5 months bags filters check hose for clogs and power head maintenance.Today i check the power head stretch belt dirty brush roll a new belt and a lil cleaning fixed that now she works like new .
Now for my Electrolux Discovery 2 upright i clean the brush roll and came to found out that the bearing needed cleaning im talking about the brush roll bearing here took those out soak them in warm water for 10 mins or so dry ed the put it all back together the brush roll works fine and rolls easily .Maintaining your vacuum can save hundred of dollars some times clog hose or bag or filter s cant alter the flow of the air the machine produces .Stretch belt don't perform to there full potential so whit that in mind i keep my vacuum fleet running great all year round .

With my Kirby I get plenty of opportunities to check and do what maintenance needs to be done. I inspect attachments and hose as I use them. Check the tension on the belt at times I'm converting to the hose. Inspect the fan for hairline cracks 2 too 3 times a year. Check the fill level of the disposable bag every 2 weeks and replace as the contents reaches the fill line. Mostly fluff from cat fur. Or as performance drops do to especially dusty clean up tasks. Check the agitator for treads wrapped around the agitator and ends. Again at the time I'm converting to another attachment. Adjust the brush exposure at least yearly. 3 to 4 times a year vacuum the inside and out side of the outer cloth bag. Inspect the cord as I coil it up when I'm finished, and or at any time I catch it on a sharp corner or under some thing that could damage it. And I have to say that Old reliable is as reliable as the day I bought it in June of 1997 and performs just as well.

I ALSO TAKE THEM DOWN ONCE A YEAR FOR PREVENTIVE MAINTIANCE
WHICH IS THE BIGGEST REASON MY APPLIANCES LASTED70-75 YEARS
