We found an electrolux discovery 2 here in St Louis today at the goodwill store. It even had the original attatchments in the orginal box. The brush motor was not working, but,,a simple push of the reset button, it started right up.
And the BEST PART it was only $35.00 dollars.
I will give it the spa treatment when I get home.

Let us know if the suction is any good with the attachments on! I have been looking for one but my older "discovery" model is not good with the attachments. I like it alot but the fact that the tools have poor suction, at best.
I had heard the same about newer ones? ?

Norm,
I recently tested a new lux upright, if memory serves correct, it was pulling about 54-56?? inches of lift, not all that much considering their canisters pull in the low 80's (all measurements at hose end) Unfortunately, I do not have a gauge to test airflow.

Wow! what a shame, a new lux upright and it only pulls 54-56
at the hose end? That's a darn shame.
Thanks Vernon for the test figures and the sad results!
