On this day I thought I would do something different. While I can't think or speak for everyone else I have had this thought since joining this website. Today September 11, is a day that will forever be with me and many others. While I remember many of those parts of that year in general I have been trying to remember other things. Does anyone remember what Vacuum models were out and popular during 2001?

I know we had Dyson, and some Kenmore. But I don't remember what popular for Hoover, Eureka, Bissel, and all the other popular names.

Thoughts?

Well...

Most Americans would not see a Dyson until the following year (2002.) VERY shortly after 9/11, Fantom Technologies (maker of Fantom Vacuums) declaired bankruptcy and closed it's doors. Most baglesses at that time still used those messy tower filters. Hoover full-size uprights and canisters were still being made in the USA. Eureka had just bought the Electrolux name. A bunch of great canister-vacuum manufacturers like Air-Way and Silver-King were still around. Oreck was still a family owned company. Hoover was owned by Maytag and full-size Royals and Dirt Devils were still U.S made. I think 2001 was right before Royal Appliance was bought out by TTI. All production moved overseas then. A lot can change over fourteen years.

Hoover Eliets, Hoover Windtunnel, Dirt Devil Featherlight, Dirt Devil Vison, Dirt Devil Swivle Glide. Eureka Whirlwind, Fantoms. I can't think of bissells that where popular in 2001. I dont think the Cleanview and Powerforce were around in 2001 but I could be wrong. The shark handvacs first came out, around this time and they were very popular.

2002

I think the Cleanview came out around 2002. The early ones beltched dust even worse than the later models. Hoover was nearing the end of the line for household Elite models. Those stopped being produced around 2003, around the time of the Hoover Tempo's debut (originally called the Windtullel Lite.)

Thanks Fantomfan! I knew it was sometime around there. My grandmother died in 2004, I was in second grade. She got a Cleanview when I was in Kintergarden, which would've been 2002! She was debating between a Hoover Fold Away and Cleanview, so the Fold Away could have also been around in 2001.

I don't think the Cleanview belches as much dust as a Fold Away. I have one of the last models of the Fold Away that was made, which I got in 2010 at Walmartm in the clearance section... Everytime I turn it on, there is a big puff of dust that comes out it, I don't remeber the Cleanview doing that...

I seem to remember the Euro Pro Shark Atomic Ant. I seem to remember Euro Pro was starting to really hit the market.
