I won an auction of Electrolux brush rolls they are either for the early Electrolux upright or the PN 4. Three of the brush rolls in the auction have beater bars on them. It looks like Electrolux experimented with beater bars at one point. I just found this rather odd. It seems like I remember reading that on this site.

The brushrolls with beaters have shorter bristles. They look like generics

Elux brushes

Some commercial customer with certain types of carpet wanted beater bars on the early Elux upright. There was a chart in service depts to explain the optional brushes. The early upright did not do well on low glued down carpet and later had spacers available to tilt the rear of the bottom plate down. Many Power Nozzles on the comm CBs could have 3 row bristle or beater bar brushes.

Thanks. Jimmy! I know you would know. I don't think they are generics.

Makes sense, Rugsucker! I never knew electrolux did that. Never seen a genuine brushroll with such short bristles either

The brushrolls I purchased on eBay are definitely for the upright. They are bigger in diameter than the brushroll for the PN 4. The brush roll with the beaters did fit in the pn 4 but didn't improve performance much at all. The best brush out of the lot is the three row brush roll. It improved performance quite a bit in my upright. Just thought I would share. I believe I have the kit to raise the wheels as shown in picture 4. My other Electrolux upright does not have the metal bars on the rear wheels.

early Electrolux upright

These became a good vac after the clogging problem was solved(with pull off 'door' & removable lower hose)with magnetic clutch and 2 gear belts, automatic control, height adjuster for all 4 wheels, optional attachments and more.
Kit-This was just 2 plastic spacers(looking like small blue LifeSavers) & peel off adhesive to go under the bottom plate and use the same screws.
Rear Wheels-The biggest change here was going from flat wheels to round.
