My grandparents moved into their last house in '71 or '72. Grandpa kept adding on to the house, and as it got bigger, Grandmother got more sweepers. Her first was a beautiful Electrolux LXI, given to her as a wedding present. She had this until 2000 when it finally wore out. It was on its 3rd hose, and was re-built by a friend about 5 times. The cord was cut by mistake in 1982, and was patched up. it finally shorted out in 200, and was replaced by a Walmart Crap-tastic Plastic model. Other sweepers she had included:
-Elux G -Elux Silverado (aunt has) -Elux Grand Marquise (cousin has, has been offered to me when she finishes collage) -Elux Diplomat -Elux Ambassador -Elux EPIC 6000/6500 ( not sure which it was) -Kenmore Whispertone Upright -Kenmore Progressive 300 Upright (my collection) -Hoover Power-Drive (my collection) We had a few nice times wih these. The only surviving ones are 2 of the Elux's and the 2 in my collection. The others were tossed as they were well worn. My Great-Great Aunt had a Hoover Concept One, and every Easter i would drag it out after we ate, Grandpa plugged it in, and i fired it up. The good old days! I miss those times, but the house my grandparents lived in was sold in 2005, and burnt down this year. Any stories like these? Ill try to remember some time with these to tall ya all about. |
