I haven't mentioned this yet, as I was afraid I'd get a box of junk in the mail, but thanks to a heads from a friend, I was able to snag a Hoover model 105 for just $10! It was too far to drive so I convinced them to ship it. The photos weren't great, so I wasn't really sure what I was getting. I figured it would be worth the money just for parts if all else failed. Well, I got home yesterday and it was waiting on the porch. I opened it up and found a beautiful all-original model 105 except the bag. Even that turned out to be a genuine Hoover bag (from a 700) which was a VERY pleasant surprise since I thought it was aftermarket from the photos on Craigslist. The seller said it ran, but I haven't fired it up yet since I haven't had time to clean, inspect, and oil the motor first. Maybe today!

I know NOTHING about Hoover. What year is this from, and how rare is it? If you can draw a comparison from Kirby's history, that would help my pea-brain compute. LOL

Charles, this would be from about 1920. The Kirby of that era would have been the Wireless Vacuette. The Hoovers with wooden handles are fairly hard to find, but I seem to be hitting the jackpot lately!

Indeed, it'll be quite nice after a bit of elbow grease.

Thanks! I can't wait to get these cleaned up. I sure have my fair share of winter projects this year...

Who knows, maybe I'll find a long-forgotten Model O next... ;-)

Nice find Brandon! Can't beat the price either. It should clean up nicely. Hopefully when you fire it up it will be a great runner too!

I still haven't had a chance to touch it yet, it's been a busy week!

Is anyone currently sewing copies of the original sateen Hoover bags? I'd love to have one made for this machine, it deserves a proper bag.
