I am looking for a new swivel grip electric hose for the metal canister electrolux.

The choices seem to be limited these days. Most of the ones on ebay do not publish the actual manufacturer or part numbers.  Very difficult to determine what is a decent hose from pics.

When I bought my refurb Super J years ago, it came with what was referred to as heavy duty - (B) in the pics.

That one lasted a long time before it fell apart.

I know Essco & Hesco make/offer hoses but part numbers are very cryptic.

Has anybody had good luck with any of these or can share a source.

You can see the different styles in the pics.

These are all supposed to be electric swivel grip hoses.

One vendor online (not ebay) actually offers 3 of these styles with part numbers, but the descriptions are vague.

They are all supposed to work, and the prices are pretty similar.

Hesco sells one very much like B. I've had great luck with them. A is less well made but usually quite servicable and cheaper. C are awful in my opinion, I've found those to be of very poor quality and often are not removable once inserted as the spring latches jam and/or break. I have no experience with D

My personal choice is A, as about as close to genuine as you can get. B has that bulbous area right behind the grip, and found it uncomfortable to use. Tom is right about C, not always a good fit. D doesn't even look like it swivels at the grip.

What gets me is there are some very good electrified floor care vacuum hoses that are being manufactured.

For the electrolux hoses, you have no idea if the hose is decent ot not.

If you wander off ebay, there are some honest vendors

Here is one description for the "B" style hose (no part number, but the pic is the same)

He does not describe it as heavy duty, but it is the same pic as "B"

"THIS IS A BETTER QUALITY HOSE THAN THE 9-10 FOOT VERSION AND MORE USER FRIENDLY but is only about 6 1/2 feet long"

(These are advertised as 7 ft on ebay)

Hose "A" is closest to original. It's the hose that comes with the "Perfect" vacuum (a copy of the Electrolux - and a very powerful machine). I have used hose "A" for a replacement hose for all my Electrolux cleaners that needed one, and have sold many hundreds of them to customers for their cleaners over the years.

Thank you all for your advice. A hose is ordered and is on the way. For now I ordered the A style.

I still do not like how there is no good way to compare what is available.

There is nothing like going into a store and actually comparing items vs relying on pics and a sellers vague description.

One of my favorite appliance parts places is repairclinic.com - they take a pic of the actual item against a 1 inch grid. This gives some visual sense of what you are getting.

My biggest gripe has been the web developers often have no clue about the products.

My latest gripe is trying to find a specific group size car battery on Walmart. You cannot sort by group size.

They have dimensions, but not group sizes, which is common way a car battery is sold.

I bought a 10 foot electric hose for my 2100 from Sweeper City. No idea if it'll be good or not. I'll post a thread when it arrives (UPS tells me Tuesday of next week). A 6 foot hose is just too short for a canister, IMHO.

Received my new gray hose, granted it is 6ft. , but it is gray.

I think the gray looks more modern, and is not as drab as the standard color.

All set if I ever get a Silverado.

Update on the 10 foot generic hose

I received my 10 foot hose from Sweeper City a few weeks ago. No complaints whatsoever. The power button and slide suction control are very convenient (never could get that dial control figured out on the original hose, although it's possible that it was broken). And the length is absolutely perfect. I can vacuum most of my bedroom without ever moving the canister, and I'd imagine that will save wear on the hose over time. Highly recommended. You can get it from the attached link.

I had the A hose but it shorted out & the handle won't fit the SideKick.

I ONLY buy/use genuine ELECTROLUX hoses
