Hi

I just joined the forum and I'm exited about this new venture Into vacuum cleaners. I just picked up this Electrolux xxx I believe it's a 1947 with the research I did. I know they are hard to date. This has 3 screws coming out of the housing with 5/16 nuts on them. It should just pull right out but it's stuck I don't want to damage anything including the canister itself the sheet metal seems like it bends easy and I don't want to start prying on it. I was hoping someone with experience with these older models can help. I got it home and it's in good condition runs fine. I didn't even clean it out and it picks up a soup can. I just want to do an overall cleaning and grease the bearings. I'm a electrician and have a good understanding of motors. I will post pictures of the vacuum. Thanks

I'm guessing that you already got the chrome back housing off of the vacuum and pulled the two connectors out of the switch rather than unsoldering the leads.

The motor should just pull out, sometimes the rubber seal does stick to the bulkhead.

Good luck

BE CAREFUL

If that is the older style motor with the bakelite ring on it it will shatter if you use too much force!,Spray some WD40 around the edge and then heat it with a hair dryer, it should come loose.
