Looking upon the pics of the Hooveer 825 I have coming my way, I'm going to need a lot of parts. Do any of you fellers have a parts list or schematic for an 825? I'm kinda needing to know what parts off of other models (like a 700) will fit it.

I have been wanting to start a thread about this. I have about 20 different coffee cans. With the age of these vacuums, many parts have been changed on them over the years. The first thing is the handle. Early machines (700 and earlier) had the closed top bag and the spreader bag top. Later machines, 725 on, had the open top bag with a bag slide that used a retractable bag strap that used a roller in the handle that the strap rolled on and a spring that retracted the strap into the handle. These often wore and broke. Hoover then offered dealers a replacement plate that replaced the roller in the handle. This plate had a hook that a bag spring would hook to, doing away with the retractable strap. The handles on these machines that have the bag strap have a small tang or hook at the bottom of the handle near the handle bail or yoke. Many handles that have this replacement plate will still have the spring inside the handle with the broken retractable strap and spring still in place. You can see the spring still attached to the small tang or hook. All of the 700 specials that I have (3) have had the entire handle replaced so that they used a bag spring, not even using the handle shell that used the bag strap. I think many dealers even replaced the entire handle shell because there were no parts available for the bag strap. Out of about 7 machines that I have that should have the roller in the handle for the bag strap, only 3 have the roller still in the handle. One has the replacement plate, and the other 3 have had the handle shell replaced entirely, not talking about specials here either. There could be a entire thread just on handles. Now onto the 825. This is a two speed machine, so the 800 and 750 are also two speed. Two speed machines would be motor, handle wire and motor wire which will have a neutral, low speed wire, and high speed wire. Two speed machines will only have two wires. Almost all parts interchange to a degree. Wheels yes, furniture guard on the 800, and 825 should be the same as well as some newer machines. The early machines had Hoover embossed in the bumper (725 and 750). Agitators, The early machines used a tufted bristle brush with no beater bars, (102,103,105,541), The 543 was the first machine to use beater bars. Most brushes from the 700 thru the later models will work, and many brushes have been changed over the years by repair shops. In short, the most interchange will be between the 750 and 800. If anyone can add anything else, please do, I am in no way an expert on these, just my opinion on what I have seen on all the machines that I have.
That's useful information there. It s so much easier to find parts listed for the 700 series than the 800 series. You say the furniture guard for the 825 is the same as some newer machines, how much newer do ya reckon?
