Anybody here try doing this?
I was wondering if i clear coated some dingy plastic what the results might be.

As bad as clearcoat peels on plastics, I would go with something removable. Try a high carnuba content wax. If you're dead set on a clearcoat on a plastic, use the stuff formulated just for plastic. I'm not saying that others haven't got good results, it's just that I personally haven't.

If the plastic is yellowed, you can retr0bright it

 

Granted the yellowing will appear again if not sealed, but I can live with that.

 

I could have gotten the plastic lighter in the 2nd pic, but I left it at is
