Hello:

I've got my latest Lux 1205 cleaned up, and I need to touch up the lettering on the Automatic Control. Is it supposed to be silver or gold? I seem to remember gold on the 1205 I used to have, but on the other hand, the tiny bit of colour remaining on these letters looks silver, though there's not enough to tell for sure.

This is a late 1205, with the Automatic Control lettering moulded into the control panel, not an earlier machine where the lettering is on a decal.

Thanks! I have the brushes and paint out already- when someone tells me which bottle to open, I'll get cracking, LOL.

I think they are supposed to be gold, but mine is one with the decal, not the raised letters. I would wait i guess for more responses. i hope i have helped.

All of mine have silver lettering (1205, Super J, Olympia). I don't think I've ever seen one with gold.

They may be gold, I may just be color blind! Or possibly, the gold lettering on mine is faded.

I just dug up a spare 1205 front cover I had and I'm thinking it's gold at the moment. I'm going to get some 409 and an old tooth brush to clean it and see what I think then.

Once the dirt was removed it started to look more silver. Then I asked my mother what color it is and she said gold. I really have no idea which color. Just mix a little silver with a little gold and you can have it both ways at the same time.

GOLD!

I sold the 1205 during my college years. The lettering was gold.

She's Done!

I re-did the gold lettering with gold Testor's paint and a fine brush, then clearcoated it when the gold dried. It's not exactly the same look as the vacuum-plated gold Electrolux used, but it's close, it looks good, and it keeps one more original part on the machine. I prefer to keep machines with as many of the original parts they came with as possible.

Anyhoo, I have a donor parts machine coming soon, thanks to Robert, and this 1205 will be back in action soon after that. Can't wait.
