Hey
I would like some info on the DD handy, be as geeky as possible! :D
What are they like? I am referring to the performance with the brushbar, the bristles seem to stick out quite a lot so I imagine it must be quite good at grooming, the bristles seemed stiffish too.
I know the hose suction is little to none but I would say it's alright for crumbs or spills etc to prevent the brush scattering the bits.

There were two types weren't they or were there more? I know the Dd handy has a rubber hose port cover and the Royal dirt devil ones have a plastic knob you unscrew by turning it. I hear these are bagless and you shake the bag out after you finish vacuuming? Like a Kirby tradition?
Thanks :D

There is a wonderful review written by one of our own I found a while ago that should answer most of your questions!

I don't know a huge lot about these,She says when she had one *clears throat.*

I personally think they're alright for the odd job. I never used the hose on mine.

Also, yes these can be used bagless, just by using the cloth bag. Although you could get a converter, which is just this little plastic cone kind of shape that screws on and you slip the paper bags onto it.

That's all I roughly know on them. Of course there will be other people who know way more than I do but I might as well give my input. :P

Scott you rock! Thanks :D
Emma hehe thanks :) They look cute IMHo and the wattage is low, do u know how much it is? If I switch my Dyson DC14 on in one of the bedrooms of our old victorian house the breaker trips!

I have the one with the knob. It was my grandmother's that she got in 1993. She gave it to me, and it still works really well... And it still has the original belt in it!

I just shake my bag out, which is really messy, but there is a converter, so that you can use a paper bag in it.

I have the new Dirt Devil Handvac 2.0 which is bagless. The original bagged one is so much better. It feels much more robust, has a longer cord, and it doesn't lose suction. The filter on the 2.0 clogs really quicky and loses suction. I have never had the old one lose suction.

Sweet! I know, why change something that worked perfectly before? The newer one should be better but the tables have turned :P

The only problem I've had with the original handvac, is with the cord. Which I was able to fix with duct tape 😜

I have got to say they are fantastic for deep cleaning your stairs

Goody! Our Dysons do fine on the burber carpet stair carpets we have, but will replace the carpet with plush soom so will be harder to vacuum with the stair tool. Don't really wanna use the mini turbine head cos although it does have a good brush and good design, half of the suction leaks out. This would be lovely!

I've got two of the earlier all metal 501 hand vacs. One is from the mid-'60s and has a gray and red bag and the other is a late '80s vintage one with a blue bag. They're great little gadgets. The blue one performs much better than the older one. I use them with the paper toss-out bags because I hate the mess of shake-out bags. The cloth outer bag is very difficult to attach with a shake-out bag in place unless you turn the outer bag upside down, with the logo facing down, then it goes on very easily.

I really like them, their great. Would never pass one up at the carboot, ever. Easy to shift on too when bored! I got given the one in the link, and sold it for £35, which isnt too horrific for a 20 year old cleaner!

Still got 2, pre refurb too. Gawd knows where they are. 1 is boxedz will keep that.

I had one for years - an old Royal badged one and it came with paper bags which I always used. I think I used it once without a bag and it was an awful lot of dust to shake out. They are brilliant for what they are designed to do, even though I must stress that though I picked up a tool kit at a charity shop for all of 35p, I seldom used it.

I doubt I will use the tools either, im just interested in the vacuum and the lovely brushbar
